I bought a featherweight on ebay, it looks like new and sews good. It came from an estate sale , I don't think it had been used very much, the case is in perfect condition just smells musty.
The problem I have is the peddle with the little tiny part that you push down, do you use your toe or heel. Not sure how to turn it and I think it may be sticking, when I push it all way down it doesn't stop until I push it again. I know a lot of you have them , I'm hopeing someone can help me. Thanks |
I sew barefoot and use my big toe on the button. I don't think this was how the foot controll was meant to be used but it works for me. Mine hasn't ever been sticky so I can't help you there. Maybe the foot controll needs cleaning, someone here must have an answer for you. Enjoy your new baby!

One of my featherweights has a replacement foot pedal that is just like a regular one. I really prefer using this to the original button kind since I sew barefooted too. I'm thinking of getting another so I can have both set up at one time (light thread on one, dark on the other). I think the replacement runs about $16.

I didn't like that foot control so my husband changed it to a newer style. I just store the old one in the case since I don't use it. Anyone that knows basic wiring can change it.

There may be a short in the pedal's wiring.
