I press away from the center

I don't think it really matters, just pick a direction and stick to it! LOL Just make sure all seams in all blocks are pressed in the same direction.

I always press seams open...too many years of regular sewing to break the habit. I like the reduction in bulk on the seams, but it's all a matter of preference.
