I am about to make my first log cabin blocks for a halloween table runner and can't find any information about which way to press the seams. ANyone help please ?

I press mine towards the block (ie towards the piece that I just attached the new log to) and after every seam is sewn.

I think this is what I do, also. I press away from the center.

I usually press towards the center. Be sure to share pictures!

I would press away from the center, towards the strip you just added. Mostly because that means I'm not trying to "fold" any seam lines. If you press towards the center, the seam from the earlier block stitching has to fold over itself. Pressing out seems to create a smoother result.

Overall though, I don't think it matters one way or the other. There aren't any seams to match later, so direction is pretty much up to you.

I press open , it just easier than having the bulk of multiple intersecting seams all pressed one way.

I just made a log cabin block for a quilt quild quilt(to be raffled off this year). They said to press away from the center block. I guess it's really just up to whoever writes the directions....lol.
