I don't have any advise regarding selling, but I do have a question. What is a BSR? The first thing that came to mind was Basic Seam Ripper.hehehe. However, I am guessing that is not what you are referring to.

It's a computerized foot that attaches to many/most Bernina models and it allows you to do free motion quilting in a way that all the stitches are uniform in size. It's a great tool.

it is not just the foot is it? does a "bed" come with it? or does it just hook up to the removable bed?

either way, i saw one in use last week..one of the gals i quilt with got a bernina for Christmas with the stitch regulator..it was so cool to watch her!

It is a foot that has a small cord that plugs into the machine's computer. The screen shows which mode you are working in as there are 2 different settings for FMQ. There is no bed...just the foot.

I hate PayPal. I was using it to buy off eBay until one day Master Card closed my account immediately because it was obviouse to them that my account had been hacked into. No more PayPal for me. If a seller doesn't take Personal Check, MC or Money Order, I don't buy it.

From the buyer's point of view, you might try to sell it to someone near enough to pick it up from you rather than shipping it!

Many thanks to all of you for the great suggestions.

Having that tracking number saved me from being burned..not by anyone here, but from a business.

Not good enough for items over $250.

You (as the seller) must ship it with Signature Confirmation of Delivery required in order to cover your tuchis. It's another few bucks and worth the cost.

Also, you should make sure the address the buyer is requesting is eligible for protection - it will be noted on the PayPal page. If the buyer sends you an email asking you to send to a different address, refuse.

If you send it regular DelConf and the buyer says they didn't get it EVEN if it shows delivered on the USPS.com site, you're screwed (again, this is for items over $250).

Also, is someone is going to pick up the item from you because she is local, DO NOT accept Paypal as payment for the purchase. You would have no way of proving the item was delivered. Cash Only.

And a general note: DelConf is not tracking. While the PO is much better about scanning the packages on their journey, they are really only required to scan at delivery - confirming it took place. But that can mean leaving the package on your front porch or in a PO Box.

Here's a link to some answers about Seller protection using Paypal (there are differences in protection when not selling thru eBay), with other links available.

Here's some tough love:
If you don't educate yourself by doing the research or asking BEFORE using a service (PayPal, etsy, eBay, whatever), as a seller and/or buyer, you have no one to blame but yourself if something goes wrong and you get screwed out of money or the item or both. And when you go online to complain, you won't get much sympathy. Call it "tuition" and move on, hopefully smarter and more knowledgeable.

Kudos to the OP for asking.

I bought a sewing machine on ebay and paid with Paypal. We had recently moved, and even tho I had changed my address on Paypal, they gave the seller my old address. It had already shipped before I realized their mistake. I called Paypal and actually talked to a real person, who refunded my shipping charges, and completely removed the old address. BTW, even tho the seller was assured by Fedex that the machine would not be delivered to the old address, it was, and my real estate agent (the house is up for sale, 200 miles from where we live) found the box on the porch and shipped it to me.
