LOL - Tiffany, I can honestly say that if I wanted an honest opinion from someone about something, you would be the first one I'd ask !!! I know I would get an honest answer.

Some of my family members will tell you it isn't always a benefit to get an honest answer out of me. I don't ever mean to be cruel and I hate the thought of hurting someone's feelings, so I do my best to be diplomatic!

Friend: Do you like my new dress?
Me: (Undiplomatic) - Ew, no! It makes you look fat. (Not the correct response!)
Me: (Diplomatic) - It doesn't look as flattering on you as your black and red dress but it does set off your eyes. (Unless it doesn't, then I can't say that. :| )

Tires for the car. They are so bald right now that people actually come up to us and tell us that we need new tires. It's really embarrassing.

  Not laughing at you...but with you! I walked out one day and passed the front of my car...the METAL was sticking out of the tire!! I was scared to drive home! Maybe I'll just give you my $150.00...can you reach it????

lacikat 12-18-2009 10:12 PM

I had a mechanic checking something else out on my car and
he cut his hand on the metal sticking out of my tire!! It was on the side I couldn't see so I didn't know it. He told me to go get
new tires first and then bring the car back and not to drive far on those tires.

sandpat 12-19-2009 07:01 AM

Thats kinda embarrassing isn't it??  But obviously been there..done that..

Oh, I can totally relate! My poor car is so bad people stare when I drive. Also, the speedometer, gas guage, and the lights on the dash don't work, and the transmission is going out and it leaks. Now, in my defense, I got it from my SIL in this condition so it isn't my fault. I figure I'll drive it until it dies and hopefully by then I can afford to get something else. As long as it gets me back and forth to my guild meetings, Bees, and the quilt store I figure I'm doing good!

JoanneS 12-21-2009 12:46 PM

I'd put it toward plane tickets to bring my DD and DGD to us for Christmas. Rat fink hopefully soon-to-be EX-SIL revealed he'd been having affair for 7 months with mother of 5 who is also local politician (hopefully about to be EX P)3 weeks before before DD's birthday. Shall I say GF's name and the town? The word is already out, but I probably don't want to be acused of slander etc etc - - -

sandpat 12-21-2009 03:50 PM

Thats a really crappy move Joanne...but I think you might need to not name names at this point...Just know we think its crappy...where did you say she would be flying in from?

OK...this thread is haunting me. You asked what I would do if I had $150.00....I made a comment that I would help people in the grocery. While that is a nice thought....I felt kinda like I was "all hat....no cattle". The fact is that I do have some cash I can afford to use. So what is stopping me?...I've decided that nothing is. Today I started looking for my candidates....I will be sharing some cash surprizes with a few people who appear to need it. I can't do 6 people this year, but I can start with a few. So thanks ya'll for making me feel like you were calling me on this one.

Pat, you are an amazing person. :!: What a kind thing to do!! I am in awe of you! As someone who understands how hard buying groceries can be, can I suggest you find someone who has Celiac Disease or another health issue to help out? Buying food for people with allergies and health problems (such as diabetes) can get very expensive. If you know anyone who has an autistic child, they do a thousand times better on a celiac diet and that, added to any medical costs, can sure get expensive. I imagine no matter who receives your amazing gift, it will touch their heart and soul. I know it has mine!

Joann - please know we are keeping your daughter in our prayers. That is a horrible thing to have to go through. What a stinker!

Probably pay bills, my DH just got layed off. Would love to give it to a needy family but maybe next time.

JoanneS 12-21-2009 09:26 PM

Thanks Patti and Tiffany. On top of the whole load of crap, DD finally had a doc check out why her shoulder has been bothering her for - oh about 2 years - and had rotator cuff surgery a week and a half ago. I couldn't help out, because as many of you know, I have my own shoulder prob and am now in AZ, but DD's GREAT college roomie doesn't start her new job until Jan, so she played caretaker from the day before the surgery until 10 days later. This is the year I REALLY wish DH and I had braved CT's winter - DD lives in NY's Hudson River Valley - BRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Sounds like you and your family have had a rough year. I hope 2010 is a much better year for you all!

Janstar - I hope DH finds another job soon!

Beautiful quilt featured in your avatar!
I'm afraid it would go into the checking account, have missed some work days due to a knee injury. Started back yesterday( nurse with 12 hr days) and am sitting here in jammies with an ice pack held to my PJ knee with a long yellow headed quilting pin, loll...

littlehud 01-02-2010 09:56 AM

I would use some of it for quilting supplies and the rest for household expenses.

MaryStoaks 01-02-2010 10:43 AM

Fabric!

mzsooz 11-01-2010 07:57 PM

I would buy Christmas gifts for my kids and DGD. We have no money for Christmas this year.

I'm trying to make things again but I don't have a very big stash to pick from.

I just noticed this is a year old thread. How in the world did I find that???? LOL

luvTooQuilt 11-01-2010 08:00 PM

I'd buy a ton of quilting books- second hand even that way I can buy more!!!!

Hire someone to move stuff for me so I can sort my stash.

wolfkitty 11-01-2010 10:11 PM

On a trip to visit my new grandson who lives 1400 miles away!

k9dancer 11-01-2010 10:26 PM

We are involved with the local humane society (NOT affiliated with HSUS) and we run a small, underfunded no-kill shelter. We would probably put the money into the spay/neuter fund for those that cannot afford it. $150 would spay 3 dogs!
