If you got $150 for Christmas what would you spend it on?

marsye 12-15-2009 06:16 PM

A trip to Branson for a couple of days. :-)

maryb119 12-15-2009 06:22 PM

FABRIC!!!! What else is there?!?!

charismah 12-15-2009 06:33 PM

150$...hmmmmm
Well if it was cash...I would say that I would just pay bills with it...I am bad about when I get money I just put it in my account and it goes to the house fund.
IF I get a gift card...I will usually buy myself something...

What would you spend it on?

Tiffany 12-15-2009 06:48 PM

The first thing I'd do is get the sewing machine I put on layaway for my daughter out. With what is left I would get some new rulers to replace some of my old, worn out ones, plus a couple of new ones I really need. I would buy a new cutting mat, batting, thread, and backing fabric. By then I'd probably have spent more then $150!

3incollege 12-15-2009 07:06 PM

I don't think that I would spend it on fabric this time, I have to try to depleat my stash. I wish I could have a new pair of ski boots, but that would not be enough. I could go to Barnes and Noble, and spend it there.

MadQuilter 12-15-2009 07:29 PM

I'd put it in my Hawaii vacation fund. If I had to spend it now, I'd buy some clothes.

bearisgray 12-15-2009 09:23 PM

clothes

amma 12-15-2009 09:26 PM

new cutting mat, ruler, rotary cutter and thread :D:D:D

Pickles 12-15-2009 09:37 PM

I would spend it on my Son and Daughter and Husband so that they would have something for Christmas.

burnsk 12-15-2009 10:27 PM

If the money was a gift from a family member I know it would be expected that I would buy something for myself. I would have to really put my thinking cap on. What to buy for "myself" that we could all enjoy? That's a tough question.

crkathleen 12-15-2009 11:31 PM

Well, I would put it towards some rulers. I think I really chopped my ruler tonight ( I don't think it will cut straight any more) but I would also get the triangle ruler to make a OBW. Any extra money would go to a find a special fabric for the OBW!

bearisgray 12-15-2009 11:36 PM

I've had a couple of rulers that I've used so much I've worn a curve into the edge.

No wonder my strips weren't even any more.

SulaBug 12-16-2009 01:51 AM

If I was given this amount of money, I would beat feet right to the closet fabric store & buy some of the things that we so desperately need to complete our sewing projects!! :D I would also buy my gifts for the Secret Santa 2010 gift exchange!!
:D :D :D :D

mic-pa 12-16-2009 03:49 AM

I could use some new clothes, and of coarse to the local quilt shop to find that special fabric.

Quilt4u 12-16-2009 04:57 AM

I would worn all LQS Here I come.

Panther Creek Quilting 12-16-2009 06:42 AM

surprise my mom and dad and hubby with a christmas gift. They were cut from the list for budget reasons!

borntoquilt 12-16-2009 09:09 AM

HO HO HO! I spent it yesterday on some much needed new clothes for our up coming road trip...

barnbum 12-16-2009 09:14 AM

I'd use it to get "Kayak on the Lake" (a quilt top) quilted and use the rest for shavings. :-D

That's my problem! Over the years I've occasionally whacked off the edges with the rotary blade & I have to be careful which edge I measure with. This year my goal is to replace my rulers, at least the 6x24" and 6x6" rulers.

I did manage to snap one of my 6x24" rulers in half. I set it on a chair and then sat in the chair. Oops! Nothing says "loose a little weight" like a snapped quilting ruler. :P

(((((BARNBUM))))) I haven't seen you in awhile and was wondering how you were. I was going to send you a PM after the holidays, in case you were just stupid-busy like the rest of us.

pookie ookie 12-16-2009 01:20 PM

I'd give it to the Fisher House.

butterflyquilter 12-16-2009 06:52 PM

I'd buy more dies and mats for my new GO cutter.

fsmcm 12-17-2009 07:02 AM

I would split it with my daughter and we would both go fabric shopping.

chris_quilts 12-17-2009 07:54 AM

I'd buy a new cutting mat and probably a couple of ruklers and buy some e-books from this site! I bought one and love it.

Boston1954 12-17-2009 08:22 AM

Definitely some more fabric, but would hold out a little to go to lunch with my sister. When we go shopping, she buys almost every time because she knows I cannot always afford it.

penski 12-17-2009 09:31 AM

hmmmm that is a hard one !! because there are so many things i could do with it ,i think i would grab a friend go out to dinner and to a movie , then the next day spend it at the grocery store !!!

alaskasunshine 12-17-2009 09:54 AM

I'd give it to my husband. He is always so generous to everyone but himself. Or I'd buy him a massage, he won't go on his on, but he so deserves to be pampered.

sandpat 12-17-2009 10:01 AM

Hmmm....I'm trying to think how I could spend it so that the most people enjoy it....I think I would go to the grocery store and give it to the manager (I know and trust him)...and tell him to randomly give $25.00 to 6 different people when they are checking out. Oh...and he is not allowed to tell anyone where it came from. 8-)

How kind is that. I like that.

auntiehenno 12-17-2009 10:58 AM

Well, need to get some glasses, but probably would go to Dick's Sports Shop and get some winter boots, like my daughter bought for winter hiking last year. ANd some cat nip for my Fiona.

Debbie1 12-17-2009 12:30 PM

I'd probably spend it on the grandbabies!

Catlady 12-17-2009 01:38 PM

I'd send it to the American Cancer Society to go towards
finding a cure for cancer. I've lost so many friends in
the last few years to that darned disease.

Tiffany 12-17-2009 02:50 PM

Well I certainly feel selfish! I immediately thought of all the quilty stuff I would get that I need. It never occurred to me to buy clothing or share it.

Oklahoma Suzie 12-17-2009 02:58 PM

Fabric and more fabric.

two of two 12-17-2009 03:46 PM

would think of getting fabric for a quilt, but would get something for the kids next door(their dad is out of work)

LOL - Tiffany, I can honestly say that if I wanted an honest opinion from someone about something, you would be the first one I'd ask !!! I know I would get an honest answer.

craftiladi 12-18-2009 07:12 AM

Hmmmm very interesting thought....my first thought was food shop but I think I would use part of it to give to a needy family w/ kids the rest would go toward shipping the quilts I made for my kids in Ks.
happy holidays!

Lostn51 12-18-2009 07:37 AM

I would probably buy something for the studio. I am looking for an old round tub Maytag from the 1920's or 30's, or a few more sewing machines (vintage of course  ).

Billy

BellaBoo 12-18-2009 08:33 AM

I would buy all the jelly rolls and layer cakes it would buy, which wouldn't be very many!
