I have a chart in my hand as I write this that tells the size of square to produce various widths of binding.
What size is your quilt? I will give you the info. |

I usually cut binding strips across the grain then join the strips with a diagonal seam. There is a wonderful video on quilterstv.com featuring Holice Turnbow who is a quilt judge. He cuts his binding across the grain unless he is doing binding for scallops. His video was very good--long but very informative. Chris |
I cut on the bias. I tried the tube and it didn't work out like I had hoped.

I use continuous quite often. I have a chart that tells me how much fabric to use. I also have the Simpliticty bias tape maker that I love. I've been making my own bias tape for years and was excited when the bias tape maker came out.

I like the method. Used to use it all the time, but now I cut it straight unless I am doing curves. I do join straight binding strips on the bias, as I prefer the look.
