I agree the disappearing 9 patch makes a beautiful quilt but looks like you have spent a lot of time with it.

WHEW!!! The past couple of months have been overwhelming! Since Thanksgiving, my daughter (19 years old and autistic) had to have major surgery, I bought AND wrapped all of the Christmas presents, went to three Christmas dinners, plus made it though four (FOUR!!) birthdays, with two more to go in the next week! Oh.....and I also made a quilt for my nephew! Here's my problem.....I'm still trying to finish up a quilt I started for my niece for her birthday (which was October 23). I have a quilt in mind I'm going to make for my oldest sister for her birthday in March, and I think it will go together fairly quickly. The problem is, my other sister's birthday is in June. I want to make a quilt for her as well, but I'm obviously pressed for time. Do any of you have any suggestions for a quilt that will go together fast, that's fairly easy, but doesn't look like it's quick and easy? I don't want her to feel like I've just thrown something together, even though that's pretty much what I'll probably have to do. Any and all help would be very much appreciated! :c) Donna |

I think often that the real stunners are done with great colors. They do not have to be intricately pieced. Just make in colors they love. I made a d4p and a simple log cabin variation alternating blocks quilt and it was very cool. All done in different scale prints in black and white with a bright coral accent. My brother LOVED it. And the girls wanted one too.
The checker block in the center of the one block was the cut from the d4p and I replaced it for a solid coral block in the original d4p to give the quilt continuity. Very easy and quick. OK, I gotta ask.....is your brother single? LOL! (anonymous) LOL! |
Turning Twenty is a good one. I made 16 quilts (throw size) for Christmas one year. They go together pretty fast.

Missouri quilt co. also shows on with 10 inch layer cakes that looks easy and nice. I also love the D9P. Hoe you find something and show us pictures please.

Bricks and Mortar. 7 X 4 rectangles with a 1/2 inch sashing strip. Add one 1/2 block at the end of the first row, beginning of second, etc; to make a brick pattern. I used 7 1/2 blocks X 18 rows for a twin. Really is pretty in scrappy flannel for a little boy
