I will throw in my vote for the disappearing 9 patch as well. It really does go together easily. I am currently working on a similar problem for my step daughter. I am making it as a Mock Log Cabin block, on point. uses less blocks and the triangles take much less time to cut and add to the rows. Good luck.

Lets assume you finish it by her birthday, you still have at least 2 months to the next sister's birthday, so I would suggest you make the same design only in different colors.

I enlarged this Rainy Day quilt pattern by adding extra blocks. I cut, pieced and completed the top this past weekend. I chained pieced the crap out of it. I did a 7 x 8 block layout and my quilt top is 70x80 inches I believe or around that area. I have not actually measured it. Here is the blog where I found the pattern

I have my eye on this pattern called Nature Rhythms by Johnny Karwan:
http://www.clothworkstextiles.com/pd...ythmsquilt.pdf I'm thinking it would look great even if I simplify by eliminating the gray strips and using squares of Asian fabrics. Seems to me this is a really nice pattern for some of those prints I don't know what to do with. |

This is my go to - it isn't too old fashioned for me (a lot of the quick ones are for me) and your focus fabric can really make it - here it is in Hawaiian prints... [ATTACH=CONFIG]387909[/ATTACH] I made it in Spiderman fabrics and it looked totally different. It goes together VERY quick. Caution though - not sure if they updated the pattern or not but the last two borders were not correct so don't cut those out right away to be on the safe side - or draw it out and do the math to make sure it's good to go. ;) |
