I went to an indoor full time flea market today. Didn't see a lot of quilts, but those I did see had what I consider decent prices on them. No one is going to buy one for a doggy mat in the barn.

Well, maybe Paris Hilton, but her doggy lives in her purse anyway!

Distance would stop me from adopting, but I think it is a great idea.
Well Done

Yes!! You must live in a great area for old quilts. I never see any in either place I live, but I'm always looking.

I'll be looking for the 'Adopt a Quilt' posts from now on!

Look for them on Wednesdays. That'll be my day to post. :)

Cute idea about the adoption certificates!

I would hope it would be WELCOMED. A quilt top made my grandmother in the early 1940's was barely snatched for me by my cousin in a yard sale a few years ago. If that had been sold for $2, I would have croaked! Is it possible to re-post that rescued quilt so I can see it? Maybe....?

Grandma Libby 08-15-2011 07:46 AM

Great story, yes. You can BELIEVE that Grandma is looking down and KNOWS those grandsons have the quilts. Good for you! My mother gave scraps of fabric to our neighbor who did quilting when we were kids and the daughter of that neighbor gave me a quilt top a few years back, when she was about 90, and my son RECOGNIZED some fabric in that top that he had seen in an apron of my mother's, his Grandma Bailey. Isn't that cool? I quilted that quilt top and it is on my bed - I love it. Name of Quilt: Close to My Heart

I'd love to adopt a quilt or find them at flea markets, garage sales, etc. Please post whatever quilts you find. Thanks. Eiltcoq.

I'm open to giving a quilt a good home. This is a cool idea.
