My daughter sprayed hairspray on the soles of her basketball shoes. It made them sticky so they wouldn't slide so much on wooden floors.

The can Walmart sells is about $7-8. It does a lot of quilts and less is definitely better.

What a cool idea to use hairspray! I'm going to try this as here in Holland we can only get 505 and it's very expensive. I only use it when I'm quilting by machine.

I have tried Aqua Net and (for me) it didn't work well. It did stick but the "stick" didn't hold for as long as the spray basting. I still use some in a pinch on smaller projects if I run out of basting spray.

It didn't gum up the needle, either.
