I have 2 quilts to enter in our county fair--the rules say-- do not wash-- here

I wonder why they don't want you to wash them.

I'm wondering the same thing. Maybe as a way to help make sure it's something new and not an older quilt being entered? Our local fair rules state that the quilt had to be completed at some point during the year (starting on the date that last fair finished) - maybe the no-wash rule helps keep people from bringing out a quilt from 3 years ago?

Or maybe to cut down on fragrance from laundry products?
