I agree, who is she trying to convince you or herself?

Well, just to toss in my little bit. I AM an OSU certified Master Gardener, retired. I would never call myself a Garden Master, LOL. I did all the training and volunteer time required and then way above and beyond. I don't go around dropping that into all my conversations although there was a time when I brought it up more often as it was part of our mission to spread the message.
Being a Master Gardener never meant we knew all the answers or had all the skills, only that we were taught where to go to find them and given the tools to use to figure them out.
My houseplants always died, then as well as now. LOL We can't all be good at everything. :D

I think it is time to get on with it and off this stupid subject of master quilter. How about the Kansas City Chiefs won a football game. Make a quilt out of that and be done with it.

Or she read the Elm Creek Novel. lol

Notice that Peggy Halgren on this site id titled a Master Quilter and I did noy see her name on the list.

I took a class from someone who was said to be a Master Quilter -- I paid way too much for a class that was a big disappointment. She is not on the list either. I think (after a quick search) that Master Quilter may also be used as a courtesy title that is bestowed on someone who has created many quilts and published a bunch of books -- maybe becoming associated with a particular style of quilt.

WOW I don't think the author of this post expected this reaction. It looks like we should set out a saucer of milk.

Is her name here?
http://nqaquilts.org/master/list.php

The list isn't very long from 1980 until now. I recognized several of the names and agree that they have a true 'mastery' of their art.

I think it is like the master gardner program for the extension agent in their county.

One day I met a woman and the first thing she said was she was an artist. So I guess they can tell you what they want and who is to say different.lol

But who is this Penny person who does this? Even she is making claims that cannot be substantiated.

Who knows how frequently that website is updated.

I too would like to know what a Quilt Master is. I have beenquilting for63 years, taught classes, made quilt talks to churches, and the one I am most proud of is teaching children to quilt. That does not make me a master thou. Quilting to me is shareing the love of the art with others. Marvel
