Sorry for your loss. I am praying for you and your family. I haven't made a shirt quilt yet, but agree to try a practice one with shirts not so sentimental. Take care of yourself. God Bless and keep you.

I am sorry for your loss. I, too, am a recent widow. Using his shirts to honor him makes a lot of sense to me. Pinterest has many, many ideas for men's shirt quilts. Good luck with your project.

So very sorry for your great loss. Ma God hold you tightly in His loving arms.
I am in the process of making two quilts for my daughter's friend. The shirts were her dad's and she wants them for her daughter and son. I have the top for the daughter's made 84x84, yet to sandwich and quilt. I am getting ready to make the son's and trying to decide on a quick and easy pattern. I learned the hard way with daughter's don't use a seam ripper, it takes forever. All are western shirts with snaps. will save the pockets to make a throw for the mom who is wheel char bound. |
You might check out the Sticks and Stones pattern from Missouri Star, That looks like a good pattern to use and will be quick and easy as well. This is the label I will use for their quilts, their names and the following:" Here is your quilt to keep you warm through life's storm. May your smile be bright as you cuddle up tight and sleep under this quilt with "Hugs " from Granddad tonight!"

Oh my, what a heart tugg you are going thru. Bless you dear LuLu. We are all so different in our grieving process. I wish you lots of comfort in the days ahead.
I've made quilts from my fathers shirts and used a Jacobs Ladder Pattern. They turned out wonderful. However, the tears flowed each time I started to debone the shirts and couldn't get started for quite some time. Be easy and patient with yourself. Now, when my children or I look at the quilts we have and surround ourselves in the memories they bring, hearts are full and I am so grateful to have made them for each of us. What a wonderful treasure of memories are in store for you when you get to the point of wrapping yourself up in your husbands shirts. |
I’m sorry to read of your loss. I love this quilt made from men’s shirts.

Here is a link to my favorite shirt patterns. There are some really pretty ones here: https://www.pinterest.com/bonbonevans/shirt-quilts/ But really, you can use shirt fabric in any pattern and it will look cozy and comforting. |
