Quilt for my Sister
1 Attachment(s)
My sister loves to read, so I thought this kinda looked like stacks of books. She lives at the beach, so seems drawn to blues and greens. There are about 20 blocks mixed in that came from my grandmothers old hankies. As I look at it again and again, the orange seems to be a pop of color that works, and other times I think it sticks out like a some thumb...Help...

Fun "stacks", and great colors. Neat to incorporate some of granny's hankies! But personally, I'd remove the orange ones. Perhaps put them around the label on the back. JMHO~

Pretty colors, except for orange. It does draw your eye to it.
|
Id take the orange out too, or add more of them

I am a perfectionist. Take the orange out. You want a soothing quilt. The orange just screams loud. Just my opinion. I am sure she is going to enjoy this quilt with a book.

I like the orange! :) For me, the orange adds interest and cheer.
I would change it up a bit, though. My idea would be to cut the orange in half and insert more of the smaller pieces here and there throughout the quilt. I would make it an odd number of pieces too, with 3 the minimum. I think having just 2 large pieces the same size as the blue pieces makes the orange too flamboyant. Think accent color, which needs to be a bit smaller. |
I like the stacked book design and the orange really distracts my eye away from it. I would use them to make a label for the back.
|
I actually like the orange. It works very well with the blue.
|
Or maybe just slivers of orange inserted at the edges of some of the blue pieces. Slivers would add pops of color without dominating.
|
I like modern looking quilts in monochromatic colors with bright pops of color, so my vote is to leave the Orange in it. If your sister is more of a traditionalist, think about taking it out.
