I just love the quilt. No wonder your Dad loved it, it is dynamite!! Made more so by the use of the design your Grandmother used in a quilt she made for you. Nice story.

I don't have any photos right now, but I will see what I can do later today. I have 1 finished and 1 ready to quilt. I have given the rest away. I have never posted photos before, so I will have to figure out how to do that. But first I have to run some errands. So until later. . .

Thanks for all of the photos of jean quilts. I have just recently begun to cut up jeans as my husband and I wear them out. So much of the fabric is still good when we can't use them. I have picked up so many ideas here. Wow, can't wait to get going on that. I wanted to make a quilt for my oldest grandson who likes heavy blankets. Jeans would be great for him. He, Silas, is 15 today. Linda

I made two from my son's jeans after he died. When his daughter and son are old enough to appreciate them enough I will give the quilts to them. I did the simple log cabin blocks. Later I made a quilt for my husband that had both his and our son's jeans. Again, in the log cabin pattern.

Love that log cabin pattern. These are very special quilts.

I finally posted my pictures, but I didn't post them in this thread. I went to pictures. But at least I learned how to do it! If you can't find them, let me know.

i have made several quilts from jeans, the best advice i got for working with this heavy fabric is to stagger your seams so that you don't have 4 corners coming togethter, it is so thick and is hard to work with, so have a side seam join in the middle of a square.

Yes i have made a few quilts useing old jeans and corduroy . They were cute ,but they will be heavy it you make them too big.

Such lovely quilts. I know your grandchildren will one day cherish these quilts. Your beautiful work must have been a source of healing for you in the loss of your son.
I remember my mother commenting that she never knew such pain until my brother died in Vietnam. I almost lost all 3 of my boys at one time or another, so can only partially understand how you must feel. You have my prayers for grace to sustain you. Your quilts will be such a gift to your grandchildren for many years to come. God Bless and keep quilting those beautiful quilts.
