I am working with strips that were donated by a well renown manufacturer so I feel your pain. My strips vary from 1.25" to 1.75" so I am trying to find patterns that will work with such narrow strips. Looking forward to a photo when you are finished.

I did the same thing, cause I wanted a scrappy quilt. What a mistake--I had to re-cut all the pieces and it was terrible fabric. Me too, lesson learned.

I actually did this recently with some cut yardage I had ordered. Some cuts were quite nice, but three were so grossly under quality that I was just too frustrated to take the hit and be quiet.
The shop refunded me, but were not happy to do so; too bad, I was not happy that I had shopped their site!

Neither of us will be bothered by the experience a second time.:D

Before Hoffman started using laser cutting, I found many of their Jelly rolls were not 2.5 inches. In fact, some were less than 2.25! Unfortunately, I found this out after I had sewed stacks of four patches. One rolls was fine, the next smaller....I was really frustrated.

I don't generally work with precuts, but I do cut scraps into 4" and 5" squares and strips and use those wherever precuts are requested. Use the strips in string quilts to width doesn't matter.

If the strips are ppoorly cut - if you keep them, make sure that whatever you are sewing toogether will end up laying flat.

Wonky cuts, when sewn togeher, usually end up with a wonky result.

where did you buy this? I want to make sure I don't order from them

I would let them know where you bought it that it's poorly cut & unsatisfactory. Also let us know what Company you bought from. We quilters have to stick together, & here's the place to get the word out.

Those lemons often make the best lemonade.

I learned that lesson when I ordered some threads. The picture on the web site and the picture of what came in was quite different.

I too would contact the seller/shop. Recently I ordered three sets of jelly rolls from Keepsake Quilting no less - several of the strips in each roll were "V" shapes (ie not perpendicular to the fold). They were fantastic to deal with - gave me the option of replacing all three sets. As it was a scrappy quilt I had them send me just one which was more than enough to finish.

You will never know unless you ask. Good luck - look forwarding to seeing your quilt.
