I have never attended a retreat. I've heard they are really fun.

My guild is having one in Nov, in the Solvang/Buellton CA area for $75. HOWEVER, Each person is responsible for their own lodging and most meals, etc. Continental Breakfast will be served and snacks. So the cost is basically to use the room for 3 days.

I am in Minnesota and researching the feasibility of opening a retreat center. If I do, I hope to have it up and running in January

I go to two or three a year. One is at a house specifically built for quilting or scrapbooking retreats. Sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath. We cook all our meals. Studio is open all night if you want, but everyone does go to bed at some point. $144 for 3 nights & 3 days. I go to this one twice a year. Others I have been to are also summer camps for kids, usually religion based. Bunk houses with multiple bunk beds in each room and a bathroom w/ showers down the hall. Food is prepared by a kitchen staff and all eat together in a large dining room. Food served buffet style. Those are more money, but get 3 meals/day. 3 days & nights are around $200. This is in central MN.

My guild does a retreat each year, Thursday through Sunday brunch. It is at a catholic center that has a dormitory. 3 meals per day buffet style and unlimited coffee/teas. Depending on how many nights you stay, is about $400 in southern California. I would go more but work takes up so much time.

During the next 12 months, I am scheduled for four. Oct. will be in Northern Michigan, sponsored by the quilt shop in Indian River. March and July are my online guilds, closed to the public. March in Florida , the other in Ohio. Then in January, is my FL guild's retreat in FL. Cost is about 300, meals included. Between 3-4 nights depending on which group. We can work on our own projects, or ones that they will have given us the fabric requirements in advance. No paid teachers, we share demos and have show and tell. At some of them, we have games in the evenings, quilty of course.
