I agree - the color difference may be a dye lot problem. I'd contact them and see if the problem can be solved - but plan something else for the border just in case! I've had quilts work out so much better when I veered from the original plan. Good Luck and please post a photo when you're done!

This might be an opportunity to get creative with the border. With my last quilt when this happened, I ended up with a cute pieced border.

I had this happen once, I called and they were happy to send out the correct fabric immediately AND they let me keep the fabric sent in error! :D

Hi - I would jump in my car, take the quilt, sales reciept, and wrong color fabric with me and drive to the quilt store. If they sent the wrong color and do not have the right color, pick out something else that might be better!! Maybe there is another quilt store nearby that you could also visit (I never "waste" the trip - always try to visit more than 1 store).

I agree with trupeach and sharon b. When we give them the benefit of the doubt they are more likely to work with you to make it right. Putting them of the defensive will only make it worse.

EH hmm :: I'd be willing to bet that the "wrong" red would go very well with something that you already have in your great stash. Chalk that one up to experience and keep it for another quilt. Good luck. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

I never go that far without calling first, and you will have more confidence on the phone. They really should be willing to compensate you in some way for your trouble.
It would also be nice to find out, how it went, and to see how your quilt finished up.
AnnaK had a nice idea, if that works for you. Judy Martin has a book called Pieced Borders...or something close to that. I hope you are happy with the finished quilt. :D
