I'm think of make one "good idea or bad" . what should I know to make one.

I have a small quilted table cloth on a endtable. It could be used as a wallhanging, but I have no space on my walls.
The only thing I think of with a quilt as tablecloth is what will happen when gravy or kool aid gets spilled on it.

Most quilts wash very well. And unless you spill something like red kool ade, you shouldn't have any trouble washing anything else out. I say, use them as tablecloths and enjoy!

Perhaps it could be sprayed with Scotchguard?

I am thinking of using my scraps for a table cloth...better than sitting in my closet.

I love using a quilt for a tablecloth.... how many quilts can one use as a blanket or wall hanging... :)

when my daughter called me a couple years ago and asked me to make her a daisy tablecloth for her formal dining table i was pretty unsure about it...i made the table cloth= no batting- reversable (2 daisy quilt tops- both different, one more formal than the other) put them together, quilted, bound...she loves it- it drapes nicely- it gets tossed in the washer and dryer regularly

i did pre=wash the fabrics knowing it would be washed regularly.

since then i have made table runners and toppers but no real large table clothes- but if someone requests one i will make another (i have a bitty table made for 2 ;) )

Since I have several large pieces of themed fabric, like Easter, Christmas, Halloween, I sometimes use them for tablecloths. I fold under the raw edges on the ends, the selveges end up on the sides. Then I can just wash it after the holiday and it goes back in my stash! How is that for getting double/triple use of my fabrics!

And I am not against covering the quilt w/ see through vinyl!
