I make them and call them summer quilts. I use them when I just need a little something to cover with in the eve. when sitting on the porch. Grandkids love laying on them after the pool.

i made toddler size batting~less quilts for my 2 grandsons..to keep in the car.

that's how they used to do it thee olden days...I have 5 or 6 quilt my grandma made when she was growing up on a farm and none of her's have batting. They're great for the summertime because they're so light and airy!

Here are 2 I made. I just did SITD to hold the layers together.

I used up all my scraps on them.

I have also used flannel on the back with no batting & this works out real well & they wash up good too.

I have done two rag quilts with no batting. They have been well loved :)

It may not be as thickly frayed with two layers, but it will work just fine :D:D:D
