Used to do fun and done. I watched a utube by Kaye Woods on QAYG using a serger. She uses strips and I did also for my first try. Now I use pieced blocks or any other typs of design. WOW it goes fast and easy to bind. Thats all I use now.

YEP It was 6 Hour Quilt.

Leah Day also has a good tutorial on QAYG. Google her name - she does the Free Motion Quilt blog.

Just pick a method and try it. I've done 4 different methods so far. The method demonstrated at http://www.quiltingworks.com/cabin-f...ltasyougo3.htm is the same method that Sharon Pederson introduced in her book Reversible Quilts. Most libraries have at least one of her books that shows you how to assemble the finished blocks (and yes, you can quilt right to the edge). Front and the Back
I usually do strip quilt as you go - mostly because I hate finishing work but love the ease that I can quilt smaller sections on my sewing machine. You stop quilting within 1/2 inch of edge. This is my best example. Front and the Back I am a lazy finisher and really only recommend the block by block QATW method for hand quilting. |
All the quilts shown are beautiful.

I have not tried this method, but have it bookmarked, because of the 'no sashing needed' idea

Come join us at jenniky's tutorial/challenge. It's ongoing and we are going to explore all the different QAYG techniques as we go along. There is no time line or deadline to complete a certain project. The challenge is to learn as much as possible about QAYG and to try the different methods and be a contributing member of the group with questions and sharing your experiences and photos as you have them.
