QUILTS --- quaint unique individuals loving to sew. I would say 'quiet' but that does not work for this group.

ladyredhawk 04-27-2012 11:50 AM

ty i have been looking for them

Kenfaw 05-01-2012 06:29 AM

Thanks, am new to the post and was having some trouble deciphering. appreciate this.

MarLeClair 05-01-2012 06:35 AM

Is there anyway to save this as a reference. I've been around quilting for awhile but I still find myself guessing somethings. Many thanks for putting this together.

QuiltE 05-01-2012 06:45 AM

You're welcome!
Sure ... there's lots of ways.
* print it out as is
* print it out, using the option at the top of this page, under Thread Tools
* cut and paste it into a file in another program you use
* create a shortcut to leave it as an icon on your desktop
........ and I'm sure others can give more suggestions.

By no means is the list complete!

spacebull1 05-03-2012 11:06 AM

I know what you mean ... and know how frustrated I was when I first started and was seeing all the alphabet soup. Believe me, I had some creative versions ... that were oh so wrong!

As I see more I am adding them to my master list ... please add any that are not on this list, in a post below.

At some point, we'll have to start a new thread with the new and improved listing.

A new one, not on the list .... PUPs .... Poor Unforgettable Projects.
I have lots of PUPpies! :)

bearisgray 05-25-2012 06:14 PM

Do you have

WWIT on your list?

What Was I Thinking?

bearisgray 05-25-2012 06:15 PM

Occasionally I do

DFS things

Dumb Foolish Stupid is the cleaned up version

or if one really want to beat oneself up

DIFS - Dumb Idiotic Foolish Stupid

QuiltE 06-28-2012 04:46 AM

bearisgray 07-05-2012 08:56 AM

Another definition for PUPs

Pitiful Ugly Projects

that go into the WWIT (What Was I Thinking?) pile

or into a

CAST pile - Can Anyone Salvage This???

QuiltE 07-05-2012 09:34 AM

Thanks for the additions ... I keep adding them to my master list and at some point, we'll start a new thread with the inclusions.

Anyone with more acronyms or quilt'isms to add ... please do share and post!
:)

bearisgray 07-05-2012 10:11 AM

Some of my favorites can't be used here!!

It is nice having a consolidated list - thank you for doing that.

I won't say 'complete' list - because I don't think that is possible.

dublb 07-05-2012 02:54 PM

I recently thought of this one. (Not a quilter one, but useful.)
TTYL Talk Ta Ya Later

QuiltE 07-05-2012 03:03 PM

BearIG ... yes the list can never be complete ... and all I have tried to do is the consolidation as you have recognized.

DulbB ... As above ... TTYL proves the point!! :)

QuiltE 08-04-2012 08:15 AM

Additional terms, definitions and acronyms are welcomed!
Please post them to this thread.

I continue to update the master list with your posts,
as well as terms, definitions and acronyms from other sources.

I will be posting a new and improved more extensive listing!!!

huntersgrammie 08-09-2012 07:47 AM

bearisgray 09-06-2012 05:34 AM

CHAOS - Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome

QuiltE 09-06-2012 03:16 PM

Bear ... good one! Already added to my list.

HGrammie ... glad it helps! I think we've all had times where we wondered what the alphabet soup was all about. And that's not just in our early days here on the Board. Sometimes, just stop and think oh what makes sense here ... and it comes to you!

bearisgray 09-07-2012 05:36 PM

Someone else came up with this one:
Y A A W N

You Are Always Welcome Now

Ladibug 09-17-2012 05:01 PM

Thank you very very much for this. I am new to quilting and to this site. I worry sometimes I will survive but I think all I have to do is reach out and ask for help and most of you all will come a typing....LOL

I don't think this should be asked here, but I don't know where else to ask. What does
Row Robin and
FWS Pony Club mean?

JeanieG 09-18-2012 02:16 PM

The FWS Pony Club means The Farmer's Wife Pony Club Sampler Quilt. A number of us from the QB decided two years ago to make The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt (FWS). We did two blocks a week for over a year, and showed photos of our blocks each week. When we finished the FWS Quilt, Laurie Hird, the author of FWS Quilt had written another book along the same vein, The Farmer's Wife Pony Club Quilt. So we started in January of this year doing two blocks from this book each week.

grammy of 6 09-18-2012 02:36 PM

Thanks for the explanation.

Grannyh67 09-28-2012 06:53 PM

thanks for the list, I was in need of it, lol :)

Grannyh67 09-28-2012 06:54 PM

I just love this site, I have learned so much.

bearisgray 09-30-2012 07:08 AM

I have one I haven't seen elsewhere -

GOL - grumbling/griping out loud

Now it has - on the Quilting Board - by me!

batikmystique 10-16-2012 11:44 AM

Thank you, so much, for taking the time to organize this for all of us! I can't tell you how many times I've seen abbreviations and had no clue as to what they meant.

QuiltE 10-17-2012 04:36 AM

Priceless!!!

sueinstitches 11-09-2012 01:08 PM

WOW I printed this !

MamaC 01-01-2013 04:54 AM

Being new to quilting properly, I sometimes am lost when talking with other more experienced quilters. This helps!
