Thanks ... and hope it helps.

And please don't feel lost or let the lingo intimidate you ... just ask!
Quilters are always glad to help out.
Not to worry ... I still scratch my head on some of the jargon!! :)

I'll echo your appreciations of this site.
While I'm a little further down the road than you, I truly can say I've learned a LOT.
The best part are the many great friends I have made as the bonus to it all!

TOL and TOTL were mentioned in a thread in Main. What are they?

As a newbie, this is so helpful! I spent the last 20 minutes to to figure out what LQS meant- thought it was a type of block. Not realizing that it meant " local quilt shop" !LOL

No reason, why not as it makes total sense

olmphoto2 08-10-2013 03:31 AM

IMNSHO is 'in my not so humble opinion'. ;) I remember that one stumping me for quite a while! :D

BCM 10-29-2013 12:04 PM

I agree with all the wonderful comments about this list and the thanks to you for putting it together! Wish I had opened it sooner. Thank you.

QuiltE 10-29-2013 12:53 PM

Thank you BCM ... and all before you!

A new one today on another thread ...

FACT = Fabric Acquisition Computer Trip!!

So anyone who has more to add, please let me know, so that a new thread can have all the updated acronyms and definitions that quilters might need! :)

Anoka Quilter 01-28-2014 09:59 AM

Wish I would of seen this before I asked someone what a HST was? Thanks for putting together such a great list.

neece 01-30-2014 09:26 AM

I believe it used to be 40 ... but now there seems to be no set number.

It's best to read what the packaging says in order to know for sure. Or if ordering online, confirm in advance, so you will not have any surprises.

Thank you so much for these great lists, I have been reading posts and wondering what some of the abbreviations were.

Glad that they are helping you thru the Alphabet Soup Maze! :)

MissJMac 07-30-2014 07:40 AM

Geez!!! If I took time to learn all these terms, where would I find time to quilt? lol

Mamam 08-08-2014 01:23 PM

Alphabet Soup for sure! I'd say that it's a very filling gumbo! :D Thanks for the dictionary. I belong to CCQG. Great bunch of ladies....and a couple guys! The guys don't come to our meetings, but they quilt and keep us up on what's happening out & about. I've been in the guild less than a year, but I'm liking it a lot. Great How-to demos.

quiltmouse 08-13-2014 10:29 AM

TTFN = Ta Ta For Now

but, what is

TOGA

?

One I think I coined --

PIBB Project in bin/basket or box

SandyinZ4 08-15-2014 07:45 PM

Mamam...I too belong to the CCQG but mine is in Idaho. Caribou County...:-) Hope your Guild is as great as mine. We have tons of fun. Did we get an answer for TOGA yet? I am stumped, too.

quiltmouse 08-21-2014 03:20 PM

Found it... teehee!

You're Welcome, Shararene .... I was somewhat lost in space when I first came to the QB, with all the alphabet soup talk! Glad this helped you feel a little more at home ... Welcome to the Boards! It's a wonderful place to be!

AnnEliz 09-25-2014 03:12 PM

Can someone tell me how to go about printing these Acronyms? I've been trying to figure it out.

QuiltE 09-25-2014 04:30 PM

AnnEliz .... there are three ways to print it out ...
1. Cut and paste as you would in most programs from this over to your word processing program. By doing this, you could print it as is and/or save it as file to your system.

OR
2. Towards the right of this page, just above where the first post shows, you will see Thread Tools. Click for the drop down menu. Click on Show Printable Version. This will eliminate a lot of the extra stuff that you see on your monitor. You can then print it as is ... or could cut and paste as mentioned above.

Hope this helps!
