At the dollar store (at least mine does) have 2.5 gallon zip bags. I use them to put projects in that I am working on. or separate materials into color schemes. when done....I recycle them to my next project. sorry to say I have too many projects going and had to buy more. ooops
I use pill bottles for old needles like everyone. but my extra, I take to the sporting goods shop and they use them when the fisherman buy flies. this way they do not smash in a bag

I also use plastic boxes that strawberries, etc. come in for charm packs. Use small tins for bent or broken machine needles and used rotary cutter blades, use small jelly jars from the store for buttons, and use zip locks for scraps.

I go to the local pizza place and they will give me new pizza boxes. I use them to place my quilt blocks in as I finish them. They lay flat and stay clean and it is easy to label the boxes in case I have more than one project going at one time. I get different sized boxes for different sized blocks. They stack neatly and fit where I need them to. I make a sandwich of two pieces of cardboard and the rotary blade and wrap it up well with duct tape and throw it in the trash.

I found this slotted soap dish on a clearance table and it's wonderful for keeping my small rulers and plexiglass templates in check.

This is not quilting, but I save my pill bottles for Frozen Mosquitos. I do mosquito control in the summer ,we catch them in a trap, freeze them, and send them to MSU to check for west nile,

When we remodeled our house the heating guys left some metal ducting pieces that are simply perfect circles. So I have a set of 3 perfect circles in graduated sizes. They have come in extremely handy.

What a great idea!!! Never thought about using the built in blade.

Pal, Bungi cords work well for this also. You can buy sets of them at hardware or lumber type stores. At Ikea I bought a pan lid holder that can be mounted to the wall, for holding my larger rulers. I mount it next to my cutting table.

Now I know how I can cut my thread at jury duty next month!!!! Great idea! I was thinking about having to use my teeth but didn't really want to do that.... Thanks!!!
