I like your quilting plan! And the Quilt is absolutely wonderful!

EasyPeezy 07-10-2011 09:24 AM

Your quilt is gorgeous. I would go with feathers on the braid.

LindaM 07-10-2011 09:33 AM

What about doing the braid in some 'McTavishing' swirls? That may be a good match for the dense pebble quilting (but I wouldn't do it AS dense as the pebbling), and add some movement through the braids.

Your quilting so far is *aMAZing*! Beautiful top too :)

ube quilting 07-10-2011 09:53 AM

My thought is it would work great with your plan! beautiful quilt!
peace :D

butterflies5518 07-10-2011 10:08 AM

Very pretty!

passionpiecer 07-10-2011 10:18 AM

it is extremely lovely! Nice work and thanks for sharing. I love it!

dhanke 07-10-2011 10:37 AM

I would suggest a vine with leaves similar in style to your appliqued vine but perhaps a bit larger in scale. It is truly stunning, a real work of art!

wolfkitty 07-10-2011 10:44 AM

I like your idea about cross-hatch in the braided border to go with the basket. I think that would coordinate very nicely!

RobertaMarie 07-10-2011 10:50 AM

This is indeed a lovely quilt. I don't think you need any help. It looks magnificent to me. The colors, the workmanship and the quilting are all superb.

nannya54 07-10-2011 10:52 AM

What a lovely job you've done!

red-warrior 07-10-2011 10:54 AM

WOW!!!! Amazing any way you look at it...color/execution/quilting!!!!

JoyjoyMarie 07-10-2011 10:54 AM

Love your quilt! It's gorgeous.

AnitaSt 07-10-2011 10:56 AM

I like the suggestion of mirroring the applique vine/leaf design as the quilting pattern for the braid.

I have a braid in progress and have no idea how to quilt the braids, so I'm glad to see this topic. Of course, my FMQ skills are nowhere near yours! Beautiful work..both piecing and quilting.

Anita

Patti, I have absolutely NO ideas for you, but I just have to say that I LOVE this quilt!!!! Your quilting is spectacular. I especially love the quilted baskets!! I have never tried anything remotely like those baskets and the pebbles! Stunning!!!!!

baskets4daze 07-10-2011 11:05 AM

Beautiful!! Love the basket motif. Your colors are perfect!

MargeD 07-10-2011 11:10 AM

What a beautiful quilt and I love the quilting you have done so far. Sorry, I have trouble figuring out how to quilt my quilts, so I rely on SID.

grammysharon 07-10-2011 11:23 AM

It is sure pretty so far. Can't wait to see how you finish it!!! :D

nhnative 07-10-2011 11:33 AM

The quilt is beautiful and the quilted basket is great

pmintpat 07-10-2011 11:38 AM

Beautiful. The quilting enhances the entire quilt.

misoop 07-10-2011 11:49 AM

that is amazing...and on your DMS no less!! How in the world??? Double WOW!!! What about feathering the braid?

vickimc 07-10-2011 12:01 PM

Alright...here are a couple of options that I'm playing with...ignore my messy drawing....seems that I do better with the machine than the pencil:roll:

I had just thought about repeating the leafy vine, then came back and saw that several of you suggested it too...so I'll go draw that one along with the McTavish type swirls to see what they look like.....

stay tuned......

I am looking at your quilt and thinking you are doing great job, Have you got enough input for the braided border yet, me I am no help (as youknow Patti) quilting is not my forte.

Butterflyspain 07-10-2011 12:27 PM

Just looked at your latest quilting drawing, I love the half flower thingies you chose for the braiding. Just had a very little brain wave, how about a rope style design instead of the diamonds.

What do you mean "rope style" Elle?...more like a cable type border?

I've drawn a couple of more for everyone to look at...

Yep Patti a cable style, it just came to me as I looked at your pic.

Liked the other design you had for the braid border better, that one kind of detracts too much, just my two cents worth ya know. I do like the leaf design, thats pretty just spotted that one.

twixbar 07-10-2011 12:40 PM

Beautiful quilt and quilting.

LindaM 07-10-2011 01:42 PM

Love your previews - great idea! I really like the leafy vine and the cable border ... the corner flower is gorgeous - reminds me of dogwood.

Love your swirly McTavishes, but the leafy vine does seem to work better.

Quilting Angel 07-10-2011 01:58 PM

Wow!! That is beautiful.

Quilt Girl 07-10-2011 02:11 PM

I'm not sure what the braided border would be. Why not just bind it off now. I don't think you want to make it any busier. It is just gorgeous now.

Marilynsue 07-10-2011 02:17 PM

Doesn't look like you need a LA......you do great work without one. Beautiful!

pjnesler 07-10-2011 02:23 PM

What beautiful work, looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Jingle 07-10-2011 02:24 PM

Absolutely gorgeous, wonderful work. I have no ideas, as good as you are I can't imagine you have no ideas.

sew1 07-10-2011 02:42 PM

I was thinking feathers, too. Whatever you do will look stunning. Hope to someday master FMQ. Lovely quilt.
