quilting boards

Can anyone tell me if there are any other quilting boards out there other than this board and missori star site???

quiltingme 01-17-2013 08:22 PM

quilters club of america - but you have to be a member (buy a subscription)

HouseDragon 01-17-2013 08:26 PM

There are lots of other quilt boards: google "quilting boards" to find them.

What you will find is that this board is T.H.E. L.A.R.G.E.S.T. !!!

Threads on this board will have more views than most other boards have total members.
:)

Dolphyngyrl 01-17-2013 08:26 PM

There are a few but I can tell you none compare IMHO to this board.

mighty 01-17-2013 08:36 PM

There are some but I do not feel that they even compare to this board!

Scissor Queen 01-17-2013 10:30 PM

I've seen at least a half dozen other boards and forums. I think there's even one or two started by former members of this board. None of them have the numbers of topics, posts or members this board has.

That has been my experience as well. This one is very active--like several of the other boards all rolled up in one.

Momma_K 01-18-2013 06:22 AM

I've seen others but they're so confusing to navigate through, so none personal and absolutely nothing like our Group here. It is the largest but seem small enough that a "friend" is made every day and you can always count on someone answer a question you may have. I love it here, been here since 2010.

Iamquilter 01-18-2013 06:24 AM

There are others out there and I have been on them, but they do not compare to this board. I don't go there anymore.

BellaBoo 01-18-2013 06:29 AM

The largest and most active is at The Quilt Show, Alex and Ricky's site
Quilt in a Day has a friendly board
Connecting Threads has a very large one
Garden Web has an active board
There are a lot of private quilt boards but they get stagnant fast as the membership is limited.

bunniequilter 01-18-2013 08:35 AM

I found another site which I signed up for thinking it would be a nice addition to my daily quilt activites. What a disappointment. This board is by far the best one you will ever find.

Suzette316 01-18-2013 10:22 AM

Yep, lots of other quilting forums out there. I'm on three, including this one. Each brings something different to the table that I really enjoy. Just Google quilting forums and you'll have lots to choose from.

cassiemae 01-18-2013 12:23 PM

HGTV has one also BUT I like this one better. Go anc check it out.

Retiredandquilting 01-19-2013 03:45 AM

Go to Yahoo Groups. There are several "boards" there. I belong to Quilt talk and Cyberquilters, both are very active lists. I do find, however, that this one has the most information, most conveniently available.

Happy Tails 01-19-2013 05:12 AM

There are other boards.....who knew:rolleyes:

teddysmom 01-19-2013 05:30 AM

There are others but this is by far the BEST!!!

Geri B 01-19-2013 05:43 AM

I don't care if there are others, this one is my contact with others like me.....from all over the world....wow.....
I have heard of Quilting Guilds on line....anyone belong to any of those.......

gabeway 01-19-2013 07:10 AM

Yes but this is the best!

mommafank 01-19-2013 08:06 AM

The Quilters Last Resort and Quilt Haven. HGTV also has one but like the others have said this one is the largest that I have visited and most active. But then it is nice to see other quilter's pictures etc from time to time. You will find that some of the members are the same on the other boards.

oldtnquiltinglady 01-19-2013 08:27 AM

I think that I was the luckiest person in the world when my DD joined me up to this board--just a fluke that I found it, maybe I did it accidentally, and enjoyed the reading, (I do love to read), and asked her to sign me up. And she did. I've been on here for well over a year, and still have not learned all the things that I can do (post pics, archive what I want to save, PM and answer PMs), but eventually I'll catch up. In the meantime, this is my favorite wake-up time in the morning, and shut-down time at night....

norwalkgma 01-19-2013 10:54 AM

Agree with you and love your Avatar, Momma_K Have a great day!

carolynjo 01-19-2013 11:37 AM

This site is the best! Stick with it.

newjeepgreen 01-19-2013 12:12 PM

I would never dream of looking for another board as this one has everything a sewer and quilter needs and so friendly people who cannot help you enough including giving patterns and answering any questions asked.

HMK 01-19-2013 12:25 PM

I was on another forum for a lot of years and it just got so slow and frustrating to navigate that I decided to leave and use my time more efficiently.

You also asked about the site for Missouri Star quilts. Is this what you were asking for?
http://www.missouriquiltco.com/
There's a spot at the top that says "forums".

Stitchnripper 01-19-2013 12:55 PM

I like this one the best. I think we are a friendly group, plus, lots of us participate regularly, so there is always something to read, and, it is the easiest to navigate, even after the changes. I joined one or two others, but, they are kind of stale since there are days/weeks between posts. And not as easy to navigate. Just speaking for the ones I tried, not for all of them.

wanda lou 01-19-2013 01:10 PM

I like Quilt Haven as well, very very easy to navigate and alot of the same people that are here are on QH , it's double the fun.

HGTV and quilt in a day are also good.

1screech 01-19-2013 06:49 PM

If I had any more boards to read, I would never sew. I am sure there are lots of "boards" for quilting.

JanieH 01-19-2013 10:04 PM

I agree - I think that this is the best of all the ones I looked at.

I did just get a smart phone. Does anyone know any good, free, quilt apps? I am slowly learning to navigate my phone.

slk350 01-19-2013 11:14 PM

I have to agree that this board is the best. I'm also a member of Quilting Haven, American Quilters Society, Husqvarnavikingquilters...all of them having there own different things. I didn't know about the HGTV though. I'm on this board more than any other. And lately, not as much as I used to be.

Apple has most of them. There are apps for judging yardage, etc. in Android. Craftsy only has an Apple app. Missouri Quilt has an Android app. Go to Google play on the phone or computer and type in quilting in search. Android is catching up.

MartiMorga 01-20-2013 08:46 AM

I spend too much time on this one reading all the great info. Any more and I wouldn't get anything done: LOL.

I totally agree. I am on one other board but this one is by far THE BEST !!! The members are amazing & it is the easiest to navigate.
IMHO the best around.

Thanks, Weezy Rider, I will check them out! I did already download Missouri Quilt the minute I saw that in your reply!

TinkerQuilts 01-21-2013 12:42 PM

Since I've signed up for this quilting board, I have no time (or interest) in looking for others.

quilter2090 01-21-2013 02:30 PM

there is one called Quilting Haven.

patricej 01-21-2013 11:41 PM

i found this board after looking at quite a few.
they all seemed fine but this looked like - and turned out to be [for me] - the most fun of the bunch.
i look around from time to time, and have seen some that i think would be interesting, but i don't have any time left over for any place else. which is just fine with me. :)

we don't gossip about other boards or the people at those other boards.
we don't gossip about each other here (or are at least smart and gracious enough to not do so publicly. LOL)
we encourage and inspire each other.
99.99% of us have a sense of humor.
most of us treat each other like friends even if it's unlikely we'll ever meet in person.
we can share our accomplishments - and our mistakes - without fear of judgement.
if we have any quilt police, they are off duty while they're here. :)

it is fun to look around, especially to see the works posted all over the internet.
but this will always be my home base. :)

i don't know that i could claim to be objective, but that's ok with me, too. LOL LOL LOL

totally agree! love this board! have learned so much and my quilting skills have improved since discovering and joining.

earthwalker 01-22-2013 12:33 AM

I am sure there are...and loads of blogs as well. As many others have said, if I started checking out everything around, I would be stuck at my computer all day. Besides, I like the vibe here....quilts/names/avatars which become familiar....friends who may never meet, but share a common love...all things fabric/quilts/machines, vintage and new...the sad posts, the joyous, the resident comedian (you know who you are:)), the shut-ins, the travellers, the young and the seniors all sharing a board and learning from each other. How special is that!

Knitette 01-22-2013 12:57 AM

The fact that there are so many overseas members on this board says it all really.

Camping Betty 01-22-2013 02:22 AM

I have learned so much since I joined this board. I don't post much but I read most all of the post.
Thanks members!
