Hi, I just got home from Big Lots. Guess what I found there? Two quilting books by Pam Bono Designs, and they were only $3.00 each!

Stitchnripper 12-14-2010 02:12 PM

You just never know about Big Lots. I found a bunch of fat quarters, right next to the plastic sandwich bags!!!!

BellaBoo 12-14-2010 02:20 PM

The Big Lots here is a big mess and it's not one of the bigger stores like some Big Lots but I do find some great buys. I've learned to not think about buying it later, it won't be there.

Candace 12-14-2010 02:24 PM

Stay away from the fat quarters there...JUNK.

joan_quilts 12-14-2010 02:40 PM

Cool beans! I will have to go to Big Lots soon and maybe find some of those books. Thanks for the info!

Stitchnripper 12-14-2010 02:48 PM

I saw the junk ones but there were some nice ones mixed in. Have to be careful!

p38flygirl 12-14-2010 02:51 PM

wow...I didn't think they would have anything like that...I will have to consider going there...

117becca 12-14-2010 02:55 PM

raedar63 12-14-2010 04:58 PM

pocoellie 12-14-2010 05:58 PM

I'm going to have to go to Big Lots when I go to Klamath Falls and see if they've got anything quilt related. Thanks for letting us know.

Tink's Mom 12-14-2010 06:00 PM

Well, just added Big Lots on to tomorrows shopping list....

jpmaroni 12-15-2010 04:04 AM

get out! Found some great floor lights to work by there.

Julie in NM 12-15-2010 05:25 AM

I bought a wood quilt rack there a few years ago for 5.00. Sold for 100.00 at JAs!

Mizcott 12-15-2010 05:56 AM

My DIL bought an expensive iron at Big Lots this week. Had to return it because it leaked, but was satisfied with the second one. She paid $20 for an $80 iron. My car-collecting son found "Hot-Wheels" heaven at Big Lots. He said he'd NEVER seen so many Hot Wheels in one place! Our closest Big Lots is in Boise.

Yarn or Fabric 12-15-2010 05:59 AM

Oh get out! I wonder if our Huntsville store has it.... wow....! I've wanted to look at both of those actually. I like Pam Bono designs :)

emsgranny 12-15-2010 06:21 AM

Wish we had a big losts close by - the closest we had was about 100 miles away but was close to sisters house but they have since closed it down!!! I want a Big Lots

I was just wandering around in the craft section of Big Lots, when I saw one of the books. I looked closer and found the other one. There were several of each in the Decatur store. It's about 17 miles from me. Hope you all can find them, if you want them.

mommafank 12-15-2010 10:01 AM

I bought some fat quarters at my Big Lots and they were as nice as those I get at JoAnne's!

Stitchnripper 12-15-2010 11:55 AM

Went there today and found the same quilting book but only got the one on rectangles and did find the full spectrum lamp. Just put it together and it works!!

Vanuatu Jill 12-15-2010 11:59 AM

Great find-I love the quilt on the cover of the first one!

Aully 12-15-2010 12:17 PM

Is there a Big Lots in Las Vegas?

Yup I am going on the 23 to the 29. I am so excited. I may have to buy more lugage down there to bring home all the goodies I find. lol! :)

Shemjo 12-15-2010 03:40 PM

Big Lots is a very interesting store. If you see something you want, buy it now, it won't be there when you go back!

sewingsuz 12-15-2010 03:52 PM

All I want for Christmas is a Big Lots store! Thanks for the Info.

suern3 12-15-2010 03:54 PM

Good shopping day!

Angel 12-15-2010 04:29 PM

WOW!! I'll have to look closer next time I'm in there!
Thanks for letting me know.

DonnaB 12-15-2010 06:11 PM

Good find, I wonder if Arizona Big Lots have any quilting books?

sewingsuz 12-15-2010 07:01 PM

Hi Donna, Look online for Mesa. I got a GPS now and when I go down the hill to the flat lands from Cottonwood I can find my shopping places easy now. Good Luck and Merry Christmas, From Suzanne in Cottonwood AZ.

CarrieAnne 12-15-2010 07:10 PM

Woohoo, I have a Big Lots right by my work. Hope they have them!

jojosnana 12-15-2010 07:11 PM

I have never been to big lots but perhaps I should look for one. What great deals.

poultney 12-15-2010 07:26 PM

Well, I am going to have to take a trip to a Big Lots, I know we passed one just recently. I will have to figure out where I went.

Pat G 12-15-2010 07:30 PM

I also bought a top name ironat Big Lots for $20 so I didn't really expect much & I was right. It leaked every drop of water I put in it. I returned it but lost the receipt when the bag broke. They informed me (even talked to a mgr.) & they totally refused it. I understand the receipt thing but I now feel they're selling defective things. I will be very careful what I buy if I ever shop there again. I decided that is wasn't a complete loss since I'll use the iron as a dry iron.

lly expect it to be very good & I was right. It leaked every drop of water I put in. I returned it but had lost the receipt when the bag broke. ploverwi2 12-15-2010 08:25 PM

That is the greatest lamp! I bought one here in Wisconsin for $29.00 nearly 4 years ago, and it still has the original light bulb. It is so wonderful for hand applique, which I love to do. It sits next to my recliner all the time. You will be so glad you bought it, and it is exactly like the $150 one.

butterflywing 12-15-2010 08:59 PM

my big lots just changed character completely and looks like a walmarts. the whole inside seems to be a discount grocery store
and all the great stuff that i used to find there is gone. i couldn't find good clear plastic containers and that's where i always got them before. i'm hoping after christmas it'll settle down again. ***and*** the prices are higher than my local shoprite.

Gerbie 12-15-2010 09:45 PM

Debbie I bought 3 quilting books two weeks ago at Big Lots, after someone on the board told about buying some, that's the only reason I went in there. My DH goes there all the time. I just don't like to go shopping that much and only go when I have to, except of course for Fabric. or shoes, I could shop every day for those. I think I have one just like yours. I also only paid $3.00 each, I couldn't believe it.

madamekelly 12-15-2010 09:52 PM

Aww nuts! Our big lots closed last year. I got to shop there one time.

Tropical 12-15-2010 09:59 PM

I keep telling my husband I have got to go to Big Lots. We saw one in a nearby town one day shortly after we moved to Florida and said we would go check it out soon. Well, three years later we finally remembered to go. When we got there the store was being demolished so someone else could build there. I guess we waited too long. lol I'm sure we will find another one some day.

Gerbie, you sound like me........shoes and fabrics (and occasionally food), are the only reasons I go shopping! I actually send a list with my DH for the groceries! Keeps me out of the junk food areas, and if I DO go to town, usually I stay in the car and let DH go into the stores, unless I need something specific.
