Quilting Circles

I am making a baby quilt for a mother who likes polka dots and am trying to decide how to quilt it. I want to use mostly circular quilting, maybe in different sizes. There will be some back and forth, non circular quilting in the top and bottom sections, which are both the same fabric. I think I will do something like that in the top right hand circle (the concentric one) but still trying to figure out what to do with the rest of it.

What comes to my mind would be echo quilting around each of the circles you have on the quilt top, with each round being further out. Eg. first at 1/4", second at 1/2", third at 3/4" etc. I would draw it out on paper first to see what incremental sizes look best. Perhaps start some other circles randomly on the quilt top.
Then where the echoed-circles from one meets the other, I would stop the one series, so they would not overlap. Yet continue in the rest of the non overlapped area. Kind of like ripples on a pond, when you toss in a couple of stones, one is going to predominate, the other subside. Clear as mud? |

yep, sounds good. you should draw it out on paper and try some ideas that way first. Have fun!!

Thank you all. I tried to post a reply earlier, but my 'puter froze up. Meanwhile I've been quilting it all afternoon and I'm using all your ideas. Concentric quilting and various size circles. I'll post a picture when it's done. Having fun doing it. I sent my hubby off to play Rummicube with my friends - we usually go together but I just wanted a silent house and my Sweet Sixteen. Hope he is having fun, too.
