gosh, I didn't know there were so many individual groups based on machine models... who would have guessed.

The 7700 , 8900 yahoo group, nor the predecessor group that started the Janome groups.., 6500/6600....never keep members with other machines from joining or participating. The group moderator allows new members who don't even have Janomes join. Why would a FMQ group care what type of machine you are using...if you are FMQ? I don't get that. The 7700/8900 and the Janome 8900 yahoo group would accept you...it doesnlt matter that your model number is not in the name of the group....THE 8200 AND THE 8900 are basically the same machine, ask any dealer. Please join both groups and see which one you like. BTW these groups are not FMQ groups, they discuss their machines, use and any problems...and only a little about FMQ, for that, i would check out LEAH DAY .....lots of free designs and info. It might depend on how to set up the machines for FMQ. I have had Pfaffs for years. Up to the 1475 (that I know of)
you had a second position on the foot lever to place it above the fabric for FMQ, The 2140 has electronic settings.

I would think that the groups that prefer certain machines might be reflecting changes on the set-up for FMQ or the options for same which older machines don't have.

You'd be surprised at how many younger techy people don't understand the capabilities of an older machine.
I've had kids cat sit for me. These kids had never seen a hand crank type can opener and didn't know how to open the cat food. Now a machine has to be automatic or semi-programmable to qualify.

You might have to look for a FMQ group that covers FMQ for all machines, including what you have.

Wow, how exclusive do they think they can be. The 8200 can't be that different from other Janome machines. I can't believe that someone on that group can't help you out. In the long run, maybe you are better off without that
particular group. That leaves you with starting your own.......might be worth a try. Good luck.

I belong to an online group through Pat Slone, just google Pat Slone, there are a couple groups, one is a BOM and one is "Splendid Sampler" which are smaller blocks and you learn something different with each block. At the end there will be 100 blocks. Then the BOM are larger blocks and at the end you will have 12 blocks, your not forced to use her fabric, you don't need fancy machine, but it's great to see what others have done and how they embellished their work. You can ask the group questions if your having a problem, you will get LOTS of answers. Well worth checking it out!

I can't figure out what business it is of anybody else just what machine you have. You're talking 'quilting' not 'machine servicing'. I suppose they all wear blue shirts and if you had on a pink one, they wouldn't let you in the door.

I have run into the same thing with Machine Embroidery groups. Have been told I was not welcome because I have a Bernina and they don't use them in their groups. So guess that's the way it goes.

Can someone include a link for Leah day's group? (If that's allowed). I can't find it on her site.
