This old cookie cutter is a Colonial lady. I just know she was a quilter!
Now she will be some valentines for my quilting pals.

Wouldn't it be fun to make 12 gingerbread boy blocks, for each month? Put your gingerbread man in a Hawaiian swimsuit, bunny ears, waving a flag. So many ideas, need more time!

tutty 02-05-2011 08:49 AM

Neat cookie cutter, your quilt will be lovely.

ConcreteSher 02-06-2011 07:12 AM

Cool cookie cutter . . . when I saw her I thought "Amish Lady." It would be fun to do an appliqued quilt in traditional Amish solids with her.

asmmauer 02-06-2011 07:14 AM

What a terrific idea .

cyniree 02-06-2011 07:53 AM

So cute.

suzm 02-06-2011 08:03 AM

Just a thought - your super large gingerbread man cookie cutter would make a great gift for a kinder teacher. At our school the kiddos look for the gingerbread man that ran away by checking out different parts of the school. It's a great way to learn the school, and in the end they get to eat him.

debbieumphress 02-06-2011 08:03 AM

Looks like a quilter to me too. What a find. Thanks for sharing.

charmpacksplus 02-06-2011 08:05 AM

That sure is a cool cookie cutter!

grandme26 02-06-2011 08:32 AM

That is a great idea. I will be taking a class next week, if not snowed in, using a heart cookie cutter for a pincushion.

sik1010 02-06-2011 09:41 AM

Great idea--thanks for sharing!

b.zang 02-06-2011 09:43 AM

Seems like a natural progression from paper dolls :)

adrianlee 02-06-2011 10:14 AM

Love your cookie cutter and the idea. Speaking of cookie cutters I used to collected them, had over 300+ different ones in about 5 big boxes. I gave them all to my son who also likes to bake. I still find myself looking for cutters and now I add to my son's collection.

tntgranny 02-06-2011 10:50 AM

I love the great new ideas I get on this site. I would never have thought of using a cookie cutter to make quilt appliques. Guess I have to move my cookie cutter box from the kitchen cabinet to my sewing room.

Marvel 02-06-2011 11:01 AM

Isn't it funny that when you get the quilting bug everything will give you ideas for a quilt theme? She is beautiful. Marvel

What fun! I've never seen a cookie cutter like that. I'll have to start looking for old cookie cutters in the antique/junk stores. Good find.

Grandma Peg 02-06-2011 02:08 PM

You will be able to make a darling quilt from the cut outs.
