I like magazines with patterns and helful hints and ideas, and I do NOT like a lot of articles idolizing "celebrity" quilters or fabric designers.

So far so good! Like the response. I also pick up the mags in the store if I see something interesting. Did you know that the library will print out a pattern in a mag if you like it? I have a couple that they did for me. They will also print out block patterns from the books if you want. LOVE the LIBRARY! I like receiving the mags in the mail. Most of our mail is ads and bills. No fun at ALL!!!! Problem is they are all bimonthly and all come about the same time! Then there is so much time to wait!  I didn't know there was a limit to the installations of EQ6!!! What a bummer! And it is so expensive too!! I don't know about the Quilt Design Wizard that I have but at $30 it is worth every cent. I can't wait till the first of the month when the new project and fabrics are posted! Got em all!!! And it is still to many toys for me!!

I don't have a particular favorite quilting magazine. I skim through the pages and see if there's anything I really like.

As far as inspiration goes, I get it from a lot of things. I read quilting magazines and books whenever I get the chance. Video games is another one...got two projects in the works based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (the game's sea map and a series of quilted replicas of the stained glass windows depicting the sages in the room where the Master Sword is). I get a lot of ideas from the floor tile and wall designs in dungeons and towns and such in the games. Sometimes I get inspired by the most random or unusual things...I once got inspired while watching Saw III. Also seem to like taking traditional/basic designs and putting a creative twist on them...so far a lot of that has come on accident, but those accidents inspire me and I just go with it.

I have a bad magazine habit. I like so many magazines! But as for quilting ... I like Quilting Arts, Quilter's Newsletter and Quilter's Home.

I subscribe to Fons & Porter also... but recently came across a quilting magazine that must be part funny book... it is great. It's Mark Lipinski's Quilter's Home magazine. It says its for the new generation of quilters. The articles are great and their titles are a hoot. There are some recipes and music choices of some of our favorite quilters. If you get a chance, check it out, it will make you smile :)

I picked up a box full of old, REALLY old, mags and stuff on quilting a good while ago for $5! Though I did go through the magazines I have a lot of printed sheets of different quilt designs and patterns I haven't gotten into yet. Too many toys!!! The box also included a lot of the patterns for small quilts and craft items. I save so much crafty stuff that I have stacks of books, mags, and all kinds of cross stitch stuff too. Hubby never knows what I will be working next! I also picked up (for free) two covers for the front of computers to illiminate the glare! Make great light boxes for applique and pattern tracings! Never know what you will find at the places you go!
