Anyone use quilting motifs. I have a few times. Just wishing I had more patterns. Any ideas for where to get some, free or otherwise? I do alot of quilt-as-you-go quilts. I love doing the quilting motifs on them.

not exactly sure what you mean by quilting motifs...i have lots of continuous line quilting patterns, and sometimes i just draw something (like animals to march around a border)there are tons of free (and otherwise) quilting patterns out there...is that what you mean?

This is a great site for free quilting motifs http://www.forestquilting.com/motifs...sfree_pg1.html
They also have paper piecing patterns and quilt patterns

I mean the ones that are a large flower, etc. to go on one block, like 8 or 9 inches.

You might want to check out some of the longarm quilting pattern sites like KMquiltiingsupplies.com; Thequiltedrose.com; Cranberryquiltworks.com; Connectingthreads.com Look for "patterns" then "Block patterns" and "Pattern Packs" Any of these patterns could easily be used for hand quilting or domestic machine quilting.

I have some stencils that I use with my pounce pad. I just got them at Hancock Fabrics.

I have a large collection of stencils for quilting. Most of them come from The Stencil CO. They have a web site at quiltingstencils.com and are vendors at most of the big quilt shows on the east coast anyway. I buy my preprinted wholecloth quilts from them as well as marking pencils etc. I love their stuff. You can always draw around cookie cutters. I have a large collection of them I also use for quilt patterns.

Try your local library!

I have a whole drawer full! Some I have bought, some copied out of magazines, some I had to make myself (royal pain in the pattootie!). My favorite online source is Quilting Creations International at http://www.quiltingcreations.com/
The Stencil Company is also great as mpspeedy said. I find it handy to have one of my square rulers handy so I can visualize just how big the motif will look on my quilt.
