You CAN do your own retreats at M*. There's also another retreat center in the same town, only 2 years old if I remember right. It's *really* nice. Everything is one level, no stairs, and it's built with quilters in mind. It's not within walking distance of the shops like M* is, but it's just a couple of minutes drive.

Do you use Facebook? I just found out about a page called Quilting Retreats. Have not seen much for eastern US during summer months. :(

Last summer it was sweltering across the entire united states. Here in Florida it was brutal, I play a lot of golf and I thought I was going to melt. Our golf carts have fans in them, I decided to buy a few extra. I've taken a fan to retreats and sewing days and it really helps a lot. If I could pick a place for a retreat I'd go to the mountains in Arkansas, or to the UP in Michigan.

Let us know what you come up with. This sounds interesting for sure.

Several churches in our area take turns hosting an annual retreat and they’re always fun. I was one of first to arrive with my machine, etc. First timer at this church. I asked where I should sit ? and I was told “anywhere is great” so I picked my spot and got all set up. At this time others began to arrive and at this point the same woman tells me I can’t sit there so I have to move. Grrrrr !
