Just picked up these handy holders from wal-mart over the weekend for notions I like to keep handy at my cutting table. I was saving this wall for my landscape wall hanging I have been working on but these were just screaming at me.
and the best part they were only 7.00 each

I had my son drill 3 small holes in the mentos lid and I put 3 different bobbins inside so I can have them when I travel instead of taking a full spool. Works like a charm.

What are they called & what dept. did you find them in?

Re: hemming jeans - it does help to use a jeans needle!

If your sewing cabinet is one that opens up with the top resting on the door, buy 3" PVC pipe and an end cap for each end. Cut the PVC the right length to support the top of your cabinet, put an end cap on each end and voila, instead of paying $29 from a catalog, you have a support for about $6.

I cut a small strip from an unusable rubber glove (wide rubber bands also work) to use for pulling the quilting needle through. It saves me from using the plyers I also keep for the same purpose....
