WooHooooooo...after a long 2 months, my quilting slump is gone! Not sure what happened, but I noticed it yesterday, just gone with no explanation. As soon as I clean the kitchen I'm off to finish cutting for my next project. :P

I think mine will be gone as soon as the temperature drops about 20 degrees and stays there.

mamaw 08-11-2010 09:38 AM

Hoorah.....any advice to get me going on my new machine?? I have been miserable with the heat & humidity this summer, also busy with new roofing, siding, and windows. When not overwhelmed with what's going on at the house...I am on the road trying to enjoy all I can before summer comes to an end lol.

GrammaNan 08-11-2010 09:44 AM

Congratulations! Have a blast and post pics when you are done.

I'm with you on this one!! I'm hoping my slump will end when it cools off, and the humidity drops!

Congratulations!! Can't wait to see what you create!

BRenea 08-11-2010 10:44 AM

That's great!!! I've been in a slump too, doing a little better designing some quilts in EQ7. Now if I could translate them to fabric and thread... :)

quiltilicious 08-11-2010 11:38 AM

Congratulations! I've been in a slump for the past couple of weeks, too, but my excuse is that my home office is being renovated.

CoriAmD 08-11-2010 11:39 AM

YAY!!! Doing the "happy dance" with you! :)

Stitchnripper 08-11-2010 11:42 AM

RevPam 08-11-2010 04:43 PM

Good news!

deedum 08-11-2010 06:32 PM

I too have been in such a slump! For the last 2 months I just couldn't get motivated! Just this week my dh said "why don't you sew more since your not a tv fan and I said "yea why don't I"? Since then I finished a cuddle quilt that has been under my machine for the last 2 months, this will be for a Christmas gift, finished 3 receiving blankets, 3 burp cloths. On a roll now!

littlehud 08-11-2010 06:54 PM

I'm glad to hear that. Have fun sewing.

MeMeX8 08-12-2010 06:12 AM

Wish my DH would tell me that. Always seems to be, "honey, where is..." etc as soon as I set at my machine. I am so happy for those who fall over the hump and get a second wind. You go girls!, theres hope for the rest of us.

quilt3311 08-13-2010 03:59 AM

This does happen occasionally, I've gone a couple months and not touch fabric. Hubby thinks I am ill when this happens. Usually work on something every day, even if its only for half hour or 10 minutes.

LindaR 08-13-2010 05:28 AM

waiting for Mich to quit "boiling" to Ican get back at it...wow...so unlike "her"

daisydell 08-13-2010 06:19 AM

Good morning twisted quilter,

Maybe you just needed a break from routine. Hope you have a fun project to work on. Sometimes it's just nice to have something small.

Happy day

dphelps 08-13-2010 07:08 AM

What a great feeling, eh? You go girl!

Twisted Quilter 08-13-2010 07:49 AM

I'm still cutting, unless I take a break to clean or check-in here. Thanks for all the support and well wishes!

Hey LindaR, turn the air on and get crackin'.

Hi Twisted Quilter,
I don't know if you entered the discussion I posted a couple
of weeks ago telling about the huge slump I have been in
for a year or longer. I got many wonderful replies and also
learned there were many in the exact same place I was.
Anyway, just reading the other replies, suggestions, etc.,
really helped me. I'm not quite ready to proclaim that my
slump is over, but I have gotten motivated to cut out some
fabrics for a quilt so that I can audition them on my wall to
see how they look in the block. So, maybe that is a start.
I will be anxious to hear how things go for you from here.
Hopefully one day soon I will be able to loudly say that my
slump has officially come to an end.

Oh, and yes, some cool weather would definitely help - we
have been baking here in Texas the entire month of Aug -
Actual temps haven't gotten below 100 plus with heat
indexes at around 110 - 115 degrees. Try working on a
quilt in that misery. :<

angelarose 08-13-2010 03:04 PM

I, too, am in a slump. I guess this is what happens when one gets high speed internet and then finds a quilter's message board! I suppose quilter's slump is like "writer's block."

Rainy Day 08-13-2010 03:10 PM

She's baaaaaack! Great news, and yes, angelarose, it is like writers block. What we do is a creative process, not a job!
And to others who are in a slump - it will pass, in it's own season.

zz-pd 08-13-2010 04:19 PM

I am so happy for you. what are you waiting for ? go create. God bless.

Jingle 08-13-2010 04:24 PM

Thankfully I haven't had a quilting slump since I started machine quilting. I have tons of fabrics that I want to sew into quilts. I can make one in 2 weeks. Glad your slump is over.

sewalot 08-13-2010 05:33 PM

OK I'm stuck!!!I am an avid hand quilter but after listening to all of you i am open to change. i just completed a fall wall hanging and thot i would try machine quilting. My local quilt shop suggested the invisible thread on the top. i am trying it but not real thrilled. Is this something you get used too! Also my machine (Viking Designer I calls for a special quilting foot. i did not get one with my machine and I have a feeling it's going to be expensive to buy one. Does anyone have any suggestions as to using something else instead of the invisible thread and do i really need a special quilting foot?
