I stop in the local thrift shop from time to time to see if they have any cheap quilts. I found one this week, one of those WalMart specials where 2 pieces of fabric are sandwiched with batting and then a tiny circle is stitched every 3 feet to hold it all together. PERFECT for playing around on my Tin Lizzie.
I also buy cheap sheets, flannel blankets, etc and use those to practice. |
sounds like a win win situation to me!

I should have added.... when I get done practicing, it looks mightly funny, but I cut it into dog-bed size pieces, bind everything and donate to the animal shelter. Dogs don't care with it looks like, right? Definitely a win-win!

On smaller quilts I often bind first, if I'm not going to do a lot of FMQing on the border. I quilt on my Juki so sometimes it is hard to hold on to when quilting close to the edge.

Congrats on getting a Tiara. I tried one at the Babylock store a few days ago and decided I just had to have one, too.
I have free motion quilted on the Babylock Jane for quite a while and this new one will be great. Have fun. |
