Quilting something that has already been bound?

I have a cheap store bought "quilt" that has barely been basted together. I am in the process of purchasing a Babylock Tiara (basically the same as an HQ Sweet 16) and thought I would practice on it using this quilt, although its obviously already bound together. I know its not the ideal situation, but do you think its doable?

Why not? Seems a great idea to me!

Sure, why not? It's been recommended to practice on mattress pads from the thrift store, with or without fabric on the top.

Go ahead. If it looks good, you can always knot and bury the threads and use it.

Yes, it's no different than having something already pinbasted. The only difficulty is there will be a tendency for the plastic thread to get caught up in your needle, so just be aware of that.

Go ahead and quilt it! I did that to a quilt that was given to me. I machine wash my quilts and didn't think there was enough quilting. I quilted it with an all over meander. It worked out great and was great practice.

Yes you can, I have quilted several of my friends quilts that were tied, her mother made them many years ago and she was afraid to wash them, they did great and she's using them now.

Yes I've quilted small things already bound. As long as it is done correctly it will be fine.

Sounds like a great idea! In fact, a perfect idea for practice.

I took the quilting out of a quilt I had finished and decided I didn't like it and put ti back on the frame and quilted it again. A little tricky getting it square on the frame but it worked.
