Wish the power would come back on, I need to get my moms mothers day quilt done. It could be another week. We have a friend who had 2 bdrms cut off the side of their house, been over there clearing rubble for 2 days. No one is going hungry, the churches have grills set up an feeding everyone. Can't wait for normal life to return!

I feel for you and hope the power comes back on soon. We lost power for quite a while once due to a fire. We finally went out and bought a generator - and when we got home the power had miraculously been restored. Hopefully you will have luck like ours.

Unique Creations 04-30-2011 03:54 PM

May God Bless you all.

I am so sorry for all you have lost in your area. The pictures on TV are unbelievable! Are you able to do some hand work? Maybe embroider some blocks to use in a quilt later. I always try to have a cross stitch or embroidery project going to take along or for evenings when hubby and I watch TV or a movie. I guess I can't have idle hands or am ADHD! Good luck to you and your neighbors and blessings to the churches helping you get through all this.

My sentiments exactly.

gramacheri 04-30-2011 04:16 PM

Many prayers coming your way.

LoriEl 04-30-2011 04:16 PM

So sorry you are going through this. However, I just know mom will understand and the last thing you should be worried about is finishing her quilt. She would be upset if she knew you are stressing out about that with everything else going on! I know we focus on the thing we can control at times like this but really-you have enough on your plate!

I lit a candle when I saw it on CNN. I so feel for all of you.

Hey Deb! I'm in Ohatchee, Al. and I know what you mean about desperately wanting the power back on. We finally got ours back about 6 p.m. today ~ now that I can see it, I have to dump out the freezer and the refrigerator and start all over again. But thankfully, at least I have a house still standing. Hope you and yours are safe and didn't lose much. It was pretty bad around here. Now you can get that quilt done!!

So glad to hear you are getting some normal back iin your life. Keep track of what you throw out & turn it into the insurance company too if you are turning in a claim. this is such a shame what you all are going thru. I wish I could finish the quilt for Deb & come help you all in any way I could. We saw them sand bagging while in Paducah for the quilt show & I told my DH that I'd sure like to stop & help them people. He looked at me & said "Mary Ann there's no way you could get out there & sand bag" (I'm on oxygen) & I told him there is help in other ways like cooking, running errands, just anything that would help them. i pray you all are safe now too with all you have been thru

My thoughts and prayers are with you. It is wonderful that everyone is pitching in to help each other.

Hope your power is back on soon. We were without power after a few hurricanes – One time for 12 days. Keep the faith. This too shall pass.

Our prayers go out to all of you. Hand sewing may help get you through this time. just the act of doing something so simple helps calm the mind, at least it does for me.

I'm sure the greatest Mothers Day gift is that you are alive!! God Bless and I'll pray for others

FWDesigns 05-01-2011 05:10 AM

Hey Deb,
Like you we were very very lucky and fortunate that we all survived here. We have total devastation around us here out in Madison County. We only lost a big tree and have been without power since the day the storm hit. We've been told (yesterday) it will probably be another week before we regain our power. We are heading out to Tennessee now for more gas for our "iffy" running generator. Hope you guys get power soon too.

kay carlson 05-01-2011 05:21 AM

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will continue to keep you in our hearts.

Sorry about you not having power and the frustration of not getting your quilt done. The tornado hit about a mile from me but thankfully I only lost power for a couple of hours. Sadly two of my friends lost their lives in Barneville, Ga. Hope you get your power back on soon. God Bless You!

Bobbielinks 05-01-2011 06:12 AM

I wish I could help get everyone back to normal after these storms and floods. Can't be there personally but I can and do pray for each of you daily.

So sorry you lost your friends. The randomness of nature's negative power is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to everyone who has be touched - hammered - but I hope not beaten - by these terrible storms. T

he outpouring of prayers on this board, I think, is just a tiny showing of how our country is feeling. I'm hoping that we'll all reach out and help our neighbors in these many places recover from these terrible events.

I pray for you. Please let us know what we can do to help. Is the Salvation Army working in your area? Where can we send money that can do the most good..not that I can send much but would love to know it goes to help the needy.

(((HUGS))) You are all in my thoughts and prayers (((HUGS)))
I hope that power is restored soon. It is amazing how quickly communities pull together at times like this.
