I'm going to keep my eyes open for thrift shop wool garments--I'd love to try this.
|
Just came home from the Volunteers of America with 14 new 100% wool garments for $18.49!! I'm going to felt all of them first and then cut them up.
Do I need to use color catchers with wool? I can't wait to start cutting and sewing. Thanks for all your advice. |
Have fun! Let us know how it goes, please.

I just remembered some coating pieces I have that are a 50% wool/50% polyester blend (I've had them put away for years!). Could these be used in quilts? I'm assuming that with that much poly, they wouldn't felt.

the only thing I really keep in mind when mixing textiles is ...'will they play well together'? as in---does everything I used launder ok together? are they similar in weight? (although that is not always a consideration) I've made lots of quilts using wool on flannel backgrounds; wools, silks, corduroys, flannels, denim and regular cottons in the same quilt-- you are right the 'blend' will not {felt} you may have edges that fray- zigzagging them will help with that if it is a problems- but then it might not be a problem. |
Sounds good--I think I'll give it a try in a few weeks--so much to do just now! For some reason, I am craving a wool quilt! :)
