quilts with borders on only three sides -
In some ways - if one only uses a quilt on a particular bed - and only with the borderless side towards the "head" of the bed - it seems to make sense to only put three borders on a quilt.
How many people do that? (Instead of the usual/customary borders on all four sides?) |
I haven’t done it but it makes perfect sense to me.

I have done this before. It keeps the design alll the way up to and under the pillows

I was thinking the same thought for my bed quilt. Why add a border that won't be seen?
|
I think that used to be pretty common "back in the day". As well as putting on a beard protector, a piece of fabric over the top edge (usually a thin muslin, to protect the fabric from the coarse beard/grease and not the beard from the fabric!).
The only real downside is it definitely makes the quilt directional, but sometimes that can be a good thing. You ever have the does the quilt go this way or that way on an almost square one? |
I was just thinking of doing that myself. one day I will!!

I like to rotate the quilts on my bed and just like the look of all 4 sides.
