You should keep them. Later you will be glad you did.

Do not give them away, unless it's to another close family member. Those quilts represent very precious memories and you will someday be happy that you kept them.

I agree with Mrs. Pete. Time usually makes the sadness go away and gladness comes to replace it. Be happy that you have those good memories to look back upon in the future.

I just lost my sweet MIL, who was closer to me than my own mom.. I have all the things back that I made for her, including quilts. I have one on an upstairs guest bed, the others are put away. I also have hundreds of hand crocheted lace things... and many many counted cross stitch and needlepoint things. I can't put them in a land fill.. Can't give them to goodwill... I just can't do that.. so I will put them away and as time goes on I plan on giving her things to others who will love them and use them.. I think it is a way to honor her and her beautiful work. Right now, I'm not doing much with them because it's too painful, but I think the sharpness of that will fade, and then I'll be able to do what I've determined to do.

I think you should definately get them. Maybe just put them away for now, it's probably too soon. Later you will be glad you have them.....precious memories....

Marmie,
My heart goes out to you. Take the quilts and keep them safe. If your children have grown up watching you make quilts they may want them for memories of their grandmother. The other thing is keep them and allow your heart to heal. |
I think it is wise to keep them all, put them away for now and later you will be glad you did. In later years you may want to pass them on to your children.

my dad passed away almost a year ago (jan 7). One of my most treasured possessions is the quilt I made for him. My kids and hubby fight over who gets to use it when we are all on the couch, it just helps me remember him and does help ease my sorrow.
My deepest sympathy for your loss. what ever you do decide to do, it will be the right thing. I am glad to have the one I made for my dad back as some day t will go to my kids - and then maybe their kids |
