You could add a border of flying geese. I did that with a quilt that I wanted to extend the size of. Make the top and bottom, sides geese larger or smaller to work with what you want. I used pinwheel for corner squares.

check out the "Sidelights" pattern. I have used it for panels and love the results.

Panels are so difficult. At least they are for me. Lots of great ideas here, I love the idea of finding a focus fabric and adding the blocks to the top and bottom. Check out pintrest for ideas also.

Cute panel. I have seen some panel quilts made with the attic window pattern and it is very pretty. That is if you want to cut up the panel??!! Good Luck on your adventure with a panel.

remember the borders on the top/bottom and the sides do not have to be the exact same. As an example, you could add 2.5 top and bottom but only 1.75 sides.
