Do you have more than one "Quilt in Progress"?

If you don't your are a very unusual, organized person.

I have several in progress: Crib quilts, Lap Quilts and 2 full size quilts. The one pictures today is from the Bow Ties blocks I have received from people on the Board. I need 32 more 12.5 inch Bow Tie blocks to finish the top so the size of the quilt will be 72 inches X 72 inches, plus sashing and binding. Should end up about 84 inches square.

Well here goes:

4 blocks from Block of the Month cC;ub c;ib/.Appliqued Cente4r wirh applicqued medliniqurd circle and a small length of me

You want me to count how many projects I have in progress?? :) You're funny!

quiltsRfun 11-04-2010 09:17 AM

I have seven that I can think of off hand. There are probably more but maybe it's best I don't think about that.

franie 11-04-2010 09:18 AM

Cute block for a quilt. I have lost count of UFOs.

nativetexan 11-04-2010 09:29 AM

I can't count that high!! love your blocks!!

luvspaper 11-04-2010 09:34 AM

I have three, but they all tend towards different styles:
(1) hand appliqued
(2) paper piecing stars --- all different carol doak patterns
(3) Hunter's star -- which is paper pieced but all blocks are the same

I can NOT start any more projects until one of these is done. I hope to get #3 done first....we'll see...sometimes it just depends on my quilting mood.

jojosnana 11-04-2010 09:41 AM

At one point I had seven baby quilts going. They are all done and distributed except one. That one is for a baby arriving in March '11. Several were donations for a charity for childhood illnesses and I always say yes to that. Now that they are done, I am resting until the new year. I have a lot of baking to do in the next weeks.

BMP 11-04-2010 09:43 AM

I have only 1 project going, I promised myself once I had things caught up I would only work on 1 thing at a time. I think it makes me get something finished so i can go on to another project. Its working for me so far.

Tinabodina 11-04-2010 09:47 AM

Count? LOLOLOLOL

Pat and pups 11-04-2010 09:47 AM

quiltingaz 11-04-2010 10:32 AM

Let's see. Uhoh, ran out of fingers and toes. Well, if I get my DH to help, we might be able to count them.

I need to quit looking at new ideas, or taking a class and never finishing the project. I do plan to finish UFO's as soon as sewing room is organized. Really, I just moved so give me time. And my brother is visiting and I have to think about Christmas coming and ...

Love your comments Re: "How Many". Yes, I have many also, Can't count at the moment. After I move will count, in about a month. Before next May, I need to make a drib quilt for my newly expected Great-Grand Child. I'm really excited about that one. And-----projects like this is why I have so many UFO's. Am going to post some of my Pot Pinchers, I'm making for Doctor's office. I have an order for 32. What a job!

Great-Grand-Child's Crib Quilt Design, same matching design both sides, One side pink and one side blue. They don't want to know, So Grandma has to fix. Thought about White background or perhaps a multi color pink and blue check. What do you think? Opinions please. Thanks!

Green or lavender are good choices.

Juliebelle 11-04-2010 12:45 PM

ha ha funny I just finished 2 and have 5 more to get quilted and a purse that is slow going and many many more in my head.

Prissnboot 11-04-2010 01:08 PM

I have 3 going right now:

#1 is sandwiched and the quilting begins.....must be finished by Thxgiving.
#2 is a group project and I don't want to hog all the fun to myself!
#3 must be finished by Christmas, and can't wait to get back to that one. Lots of creativity and personal memories going into this one, will be my masterpiece to date!!!

After Christmas, I'm making one for ME, for which I've purchased the fabric. I also have another quilt cut out, but the design is so simple it hardly bears mentioning. I guess we could all sew for six months on the fabric we've already got cut out for stuff tho, couldn't we?

littlehud 11-04-2010 07:59 PM

I have five projects going and a long line of wishes from the kids to start.

dewie45 11-05-2010 01:48 AM

Ah yes UFOs....a woman's work is never done. I have two that need sandwiching..a hard job for me..and a 'Purdue' quilt designed by my nonquilting daughter that I am struggling to figure out. There is at least one project that falls into the "if it's ugly, quit early" category.

woodland creature 11-05-2010 02:26 AM

Well - there is the graduation gift for my son - but I don't need to finish that until May, so that one doesn't really count. Then there is the one for our bed - but we're moving shortly and I don't plan on actually using it until we get to the new house - so that one doesn't really count either. Then there is the lap quilt that I'm making for my daughter, and one for my husband. But then I started two more last weekend. Oh yeah - then there is the mystery quilt that our guild is doing. But we haven't really started it yet, so that one doesn't count either.

Uh - yup! And my Jane's Journey has been a WIP since 1997. To make matters worse, Amazon.com came across yesterday with 2 more books! Affairs of the Heart and another Mariner's Compass book that I didn't have. We won't even talk about all the BOMs all over the place. :) At least I always have something to work on depending on my mood.

Oh, you're supposed to finish them?

nab 11-05-2010 04:49 AM

I didn't know I was suppose to keep count.

I have a list tacked above my sewing machine that is divided into 4 categories: in progress, to be quilted, need a picture for my journal and want to do. This week, I got the list down to this. Still seems overwhelming, but much more manageable. Yesterday, I got two from the to be quilted category to the pic needed column. I'm hoping to get the bindings tacked down tonight, labels made, quilts washed, blocked, wrapped, cards made and given to the new parents Sunday at church.

lillybeck 11-05-2010 07:52 AM

I have in progress 1 double quilt, 1 Christmas quilt, 4 skirts fort gd and one cross stitch for ggd. I think that is enough for now,

cassiemae 11-05-2010 08:15 AM

I only work on one project at a time and when i finish that then I start on another one. It sounds like I might be one of few but that is the way I work,(sorry).

klgreene 11-05-2010 08:32 AM

6 - 2 to be quilted, 1 waiting to get sashing material, one baby quilt waiting to finish after I find out if it's a boy or girl, a Sampler for a day bed, and a kalieoscope I just started playing with to try it, and I'm ending up making it into a lap quilt.

JeanDal 11-05-2010 09:58 AM

Two and one in the planning stage

Maria C 11-05-2010 12:16 PM

When I started quilting I used to do one project at a time and wouldn't start another one until I finsihed the first one. It took me three years before I had a UFO. Now I do have UFO's as I realised the wasted time I had when I would stall at a stage and not really want to be working on that particular part. I work on a little something else and then go back to that one where I'm a little stuck. So I guess there are many styles to work in but once you have a quilt in your hands - no ones knows which style you use.

Maybe1day 11-05-2010 01:47 PM

I am one of those people who always finished a project before starting another. Saying this though I currently have a project underway which I may not finish before starting something new because my heart just isn't in it right now :(

Maybe1day

TexasSunshine 11-05-2010 02:03 PM

I would rather not have to many projects going at once. I tend to forget what I'm supposed to be doing. I am finishing up 1 lap quilt for DD for Christmas and plan to start Monday on jean rag quilt for son for Christmas. I'm planning pot holders and pincushions for gifts, pillows for myself, using old hankies and old scarves. We went through the Houston Quilt Show today and I was like a kid in a candy store.

quiltmaker 11-05-2010 02:12 PM

Guess you would consider me an unusual organized person. I start to finish whatever quilt I am doing. At one time I had several to finish and it drove me nuts....and I said never again. Now I find more joy and satisfaction in giving all my attention to one quilting project at a time!
Plus, I manage to quilt more than when I had several waiting for my attention.

Rettie V. Grama 11-05-2010 02:47 PM

Every one has been so kind telling me about their UFO'S. Loved all the comments, It has been fun, now it's my turn.

Have 4 tables runners,10 Lap Quilts for the wounded, 32 pot pinchers, 4 pairs of pants to hem, a crib quilt to make before May, a Christmas Swap block, A friend Swap block, a crocheted hat and scarf to match and (brain turn) Thats all I can think of right now. But keep up the fun. Will post some of my UFO'S if I ever get them done.

Good sewing to all!

Rettie V. Grama 11-05-2010 02:48 PM

Oh, I forgot: a full sized quilt started for myself, Log cabin pattern and a quilt as you go for a young lady who feels like my own daughter.

You are a wonderfully organized person. Like you, I would go nuts if I had to work on just one at a time. Congratulations on your success!
