That plane was full of quilts!!! Thanks for the link.
|
what a wonderful thing you gals do. Makes me proud to be associated with you.

Who do we contact to help out with this effort?

I am the mother of 2 soldiers who served in Iraq, on March 7th of 2007 my oldest son was killed in Baghdad with 2 other soldiers...His wife, daughter and myself have received several quilts from different guilds and organizations in the nation. I can't tell you how much it means to us to curl up in one of these labors of love knowing that someone cared enough about us to reach out...I like to think it is their way of giving me a hug when I need it.

Another good program to check out is www.sewmuchcomfort.org . This organization adapts everyday clothing for injured troops to wear so that they can have some sort of normal in their life while undergoing rehabilitation, many of them amputees.

I hope it's okay with you if I send up a prayer for your son. |
Thank you for this link. Those pictures bring us to reality and they are heartbreaking. Thanks to all who sent quilts to our service men and women. God bless them and you.

Bless you, Bearlea.
Thank you, OP, for the link. For anyone planning on sending care packages: 1. Drawings with little notes from kids are appreciated... because the kids are hilarious! 2. If you're going to send items for the local children, don't send candy. Bad teeth. Send paper and crayons and futbols. 3. If you have a point of contact, follow their instructions and requests exactly. 4. Check out bakemeawish.com's Operation Birthday Cake and Freedom Cake. 5. Check out Soldiers' Angels. 6. And, thank you for caring. |
I have been making Quilts of Valor for about 4 years now. Go to www.qovf.org for information. It is a WONDERFUL group. They have a Yahoo group and also run a QOV Mystery about 6 times a year.

Deeply, deeply touched. Thank you to our war heroes and their families. I plan to make more quilts for causes like this. My son just finnished his training but has not yet been deployed. My mother's heart goes out to Tbullock. I am so sorry to hear about the death of your oldest son. My prayers go out to you and your family.
