I am so sorry that you had such a sad thing happen. I know I would go bonkers without my machine. I am glad that you weren't hurt (this time). You are so blessed to be surrounded by folks who love you so much.
Good luck on a new machine. I hope you can find just what you want.

:o( Other than your tears I hope there was no other fluid (of the red color) that was shed. Mom's are the best and your fiance sounds like a keeper. What model Brother was it?

Are you close to middle of Ill. , if so I have a extra machine that you can have.

How old was the machine? On the home owners, ours is a $500 deductable so didn't cost much more to replace and it didn't go on the insurance as a claim to raise the premium.
I would look at a place that has in house repair, JoAnn's dose NOT. Sometimes you can get a better machine used for the $money's you are going to spend than buying one at WalMart.
You have a bit to think about it. Nice mother to loan her machine.... I am like so of the others here I have a couple of back up's , About the time I didn't have a machine would be when I though I needed it most... I hope your bruses are gone soon. ANd a new machine for your BD.

I don't know what condition your machine is from the fall but you mentioned the feed dogs. These are sometimes easily replaced on some machines, and very cheap to replace. Call a sewing machine repair store and ask for a price on the feed dogs of your machine. If that's all that's wrong with the machine, you might want to consider replacing them. Some machine feed dogs are only two screws, take out and screw them in. Another consideration is to watch the thrift stores or Craigslist for a machine if you don't want to spend too much on a machine at this time. Just make sure the bobbin assembly is in the machine and the wheel turns freely.

Note to self - do not carry sewing machine and anything else down the stairs at the same time.

I feel so sad for you and your sewing machine. Your mom and sweetie love you so much to want you to be happy with your sewing. I am glad you didn't fall with the machine down those stairs.
