Fons and Porter that has a tutorial for paper piecing the Hunters Star. I have both the small and the large ruler and love them.

Oh don't think that. I bought the ruler for a class and made a tabletopper. I had not planned on using it but that one time. It was so easy I made four tabletoppers for Christmas gifts for friends. It was worth buying. Now I have the Go and the hunter star die. |
I have it and have made 3 quilts with it and love it. Although there is a little fabric waste after you have used the ruler once you and use the smaller fabric requirement and be fine. Everything lines up perfectly!

I have used this ruler to make two quilts. The things I don't like are that there is some waste of fabric and the process can be tedious. The things I like are that the seams "nest" and the finished product is PERFECT! This is a quilt I made for QOV using fat quarters. Good Luck!

Thank you btiny36, that video made it much clearer. I also watched the Fons & Porter video from 10/13. It's a longer version of the original with Deb Tucker. She also had 8-10 quilts with different settings that were very nice.

I used the ruler because I was still on prednisone, which makes my brain a bit off when it comes to following directions. Yes, it wasted fabric. But, it do go quickly.
Now, off steroids, I would piece it. |
I've made two quilts with the ruler and love them both! It is a little extra work and a little extra waste but the quilt blocks come out perfectly, so I did not mind it. I would rather make my blocks a little bigger and square them down then having the blocks come out short. It's not a fast quilt but the results are amazing. I've seen them in made in two colors or many colors and love them all. Let's face it, you have to work and put your time in when making quilts but I love the process and the results. Good luck.
