Question? Are the connection cords interchangeable? You might try this and therefore be able to keep your Bernina foot pedal.

Maybe someones DH knows whether there is any other difference in those pedals?? |
It works fine I have had Janomes for years and have never had a problem. I had a 6500 that I used for years and when I traded it for the 7700 the quilt shop sold it for more than I paid for it ! They are work horses!

I have 4 Janomes and my hubby just got me the 350e and I don't have a problem with the pedal and I wear a size 10. 350e doesn't have a pedal..sorry.

When I bought my Janome 4900 a few years ago I took one look at the plastic foot pedal and asked the dealer if I could get a nice solid metal one instead. They said it was a downgrade but they'd do it for me. I don't regret it one bit. I love my metal foot pedal and would not change it for anything.
It still likes to take a tour of the carpet under the table sometimes but not so often now that it's on a piece of rubbery vinyl. |
same as my Janome6500 and and works great for me.
Guessing you are just not used to it yet. Sometimes change is difficult. |
Is like all the Janome's I have owned. I put velcro (the loopy part) on the long strip at the top to keep it from sliding. Is easier on your legs than a bigger one. However, You could put it on a larger wood platform if that would help.
|
That size foot pedal seems about right to me, it's the same as the one I have on my Janome 4000. I put mine over the rubberized mesh shelf pads to keep from chasing it across the floor, so that helps a little. With that much size difference, you will get used to the difference in size.

Thanks to the comments here, I turned mine upside down today to sew and it made it stay in position much better!
Thanks!! No cost! |

On Janome's you control the speed with a switch(?)/button on the machine not the foot pedal.
|
I have a Janome with that foot pedal and really like it. I got a very nice Brother Innova...and was disappointed in the foot pedal that came with that.

I have a vinyl floor and have tried all the suggestions. Finally, turning the foot pedal upside down worked! Who woulda thunk it! ;-)
|
I put one of those shelf liners, that are rubbery, under my foot pedal and it seems to stay very well, and it cost only $1 at the dollar store.
|
I have the same pedal and also put the rubber under it. I have never had a huge foot like your other one though so I am used to a little one I think the big one would be hard for me to get used to.lol

Foot pedals all the way for me! |
I use my button too. It makes sewing steady. A rubber mat should help the foot from moving though. Give it a try.
|
they haven't changed that pedal in forever and i love it. the bigger ones make my ankles hurt. give it a chance and then if it still bugs you find out if there's a larger one available.
|
turn it over and put the top on the bottom and you are able to curl toes over the bump and it works slick. if it slides use some of the other suggestions, but it solve some of the problems too.

I have shoesize 5 1/2 sew barefoot and hardly can get used to this small lightweight thing. How about you? Maybe I contact Janome and ask whether a big heavy one is available!? Granny |
I started quilting about 3 three years ago and bought a smallish Jannone as my first machine. When it was demonstrated at the quilt show where I purchased it, the woman used the button to stop and start. So, from the day I bought it, I only use the stop and start button. Can't sew any other way.

Feedback from Janome this morning
Good morning Thank you for the feedback, it is always nice to hear from a happy customer. However we would not recommend that you use a foot control from a different sewing machine as the wattage etc may be different and could cause problems with the motor of your machine. Regards Elaine Bennett Customer Service |
Try an old mousepad under it :-)
|
My older Pfaff has a smaller foot pedal like the Janome, I also sew barefoot, and I find if I turn the foot pedal upside down I have more control. Just a thought.
|
I have 2 berninas, one is an old 930 and the new 830, can't miss the pedals on those, I sew left footed because I used to use the right leg for the knee lifter bar thingyand I do sew barefooted, best there is I think one tap on the pedal and the neeedle goes up or down once , that is all on the new one , but I also have the old 221 replica and a tredle too, so I can't complain
|
put one of those rubber jar opener thingy's under it to keep it from sliding and practice!

I have 3 Janomes and they all have this pedal. My sewing room is carpeted so I put stick-on velcro on the pedal. It sticks to the carpet and doesn't move. Works for me.
|
I have a Janome 10000 (10 year anniversary this month for that machine), and sew barefoot too, my size 10 feet and heavy gas pedalling gets that foot control moving, so I have become very adept at using two feet like tweezers to re positioning it. tried everything to keep it stable, except for the velcro strip. will try that today, great idea.
