We went into town today to exchange a motorcycle lift. After we did that we stopped off at the Goodwill. And I found the all this Batik fabric. It totaled out to 16 yds. @ $3.00 a yd. I paid $48.00 for all of it. And the best thing is ..the really light fabric on the bottom of the pile is 4 yds. x 110" across large enough to be the backing on a quilt.

The fabric ranges in yardage of 2 to 4 yards apiece. I was stunned because another lady had just rummaged through the fabrics that were hanging up on the same rack.
The black and pink piece is actually red and black.

I'm here in Washington and on Fridays, my parents go to the good will there are three nearby and they sell their fabric for 99 cents a yard roughly...I know she buys alot and they are always $1.99 and there is about 2 yards on each.

Chasing Hawk 04-01-2013 07:33 AM

Very rarely these days do I find anything good as far as fabrics go at the Goodwill. Two weeks ago I bought a package of remnants there and it had two panels in it for those fabric softy books for toddlers in it. A 5 Funky Monkey panel and a bunny counting one.
We were in the store rather early yesterday I think the store was open for about 20 minutes when I snagged all that fabric. It was just put out on the rack.

willferg 04-01-2013 08:21 AM

That's some good quilting karma – good for you!

Ioftheneedle 04-01-2013 01:46 PM

Lucky day for you I am sure you will make something wonderful from it. Our local Goodwill stores have raised their prices so much I don't frequent them much..

Congratulations! It really does pay to continually be checking out sources in the community,

Yooper32 04-02-2013 04:05 AM

If I had had that kind of luck, I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven. Never happen here, that's for sure.

judylg 04-02-2013 04:13 AM

Wonderful find, the best I have done is a very large ball of fabric strips rolled into a ball, at the resale store. It was 2.99. Thought I found a deal, but your deal goes to the next level! You have to wonder why people get rid of this stuff. I always thought if I could not use it I would like it to go to someplace that would use it and be happy. The only thing with that is that in most cases it has to be shipped and the price is outrageous to send. Have to fine tune my plan eventually.
