Red white and black quilt ideas

I need to make two Red, whit and black quilts for my great granddaughter. I would like some ideas if anyone has the time to reply. THanks for any help you can give me. Jazzelise

OMG the first thing is how much time do you have to make them? You could make a string quilt, a bargello, a disappearing 9 patch would probably be the easiest to do. Wish you luck with whatever you choose to make.

I did Jacob's Ladder in these colors. It was very. Nice.

Disappearing 9 Patch is easy. I made another of these and used lime green instead.

I love the D9P in the above picture of red/white/black. The one feature I have never been able to figure out is how do you layout the squares so that you always get the small 2 red squares in the center, and opposite corners? My D9P always ends up helter-skelter. Thanks for any help.

I took this at a show some years ago back home. I do not know the pattern name. (sorry) But, it does look pretty easy.

Put the red in the center of the 9 patch.

I did a Turning 20 for my friend, in mostly reds, whites and backs, with a little grey thrown in. She had collected fat quarters and didn't know what to do with them. I put a border of black with red leaves (a batic I think) and bound in black. The quilt was for a day bed and we made pillow shams from the feature fabric with the same border, and a bed skirt from that fabric as well. ]It was stunning! 573603[/ATTACH

here's one I did for a friend, but I had no pattern, just fat quarters of the fabrics and I cut out to size the motifs:

Using Yahoo I searched for Red Black White quilt images. I know you can find something here.

A few years ago I made a sampler quilt using reds, whites and blacks. It was lots of fun to try new blocks and different techniques. Mine has 56 unique blocks but it is an oversized king.

Good luck.

This quilt was made from lotto block winnings. The block is the Anvil Block from Quilters' Cache.

I'm planning on making a Triple Irish Chain out of red, white and black.

I JUST DID A BABY QUILT THAT WAY. I DID A 4 PATCH. THE BIGGER BLOCK WAS A RED WITH little spots. the two smaller smaller squares in the 4 patch were black with white spot and white with black spots. came out very pretty and basic for a baby.

quiltingshorttimer 05-25-2017 06:03 PM

do they need to be exactly the same? there was an issue of either McCall's or American Patchwork (ok--it might have been Quiltaker) within this past year that showed how to cut two twin quilts at the same time and you ended up with 2 similar but very different quilts. Think there were two sets shown. Let me do some magazine digging tomorrow and see if I can find it.

How about Eleanor Burns Day and night quilt.

Mdegenhart .....

nice blocks and nicely sewn together! I was wondering....what color thread are you going to do for the quilting??? I understand you didn't ask for suggestions, but I see 'R E D' stitching on this pretty quilt!! But just the same, be sure to post when done...you know we'd love to see it!!!

That is going to be absolutely beautiful - and very striking. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thank you! I haven't decided, but yes, probably red. I need to fix some of the blocks. Even hand-pieced some of my points are too close to the edge.

All the above quilts using red.white and black squares are very pretty. I have several red, white and blue quilts using a couple of the above patterns.

I like the color combo. These are 2 of my red, white and black quilts

Bjbaxter 05-26-2017 07:00 PM

I have made 2 black/red/white quilts, one was a disappearing 9 patch and one was a Bento Box - two of my favorite quilts, both given as gifts. One day I will make and keep one.

Rose_P 05-26-2017 07:15 PM

I don't have anything to contribute, but have to express appreciation for all the great eye candy generated by your request! I'm especially taken with that faces quilt by Innov8er. Is the pattern available?

Sorry but a glitch of some kind prevented me from adding a note to my post to the link.
Also a search of Pinterest will yield a lot of black, white, and red quilts. They are beautiful and quite popular it seems.
I am in the process of making the disappearing nine patch in the link, for my son but instead of red with the black and white, I used solid red, green, blue, yellow, purple, etc. When I can get a photo of it, will post.
